5.0 out of 5 stars Had to have it, December 22, 2004
By
This review is from: Dare to Confess (Audio CD)
My teenage daughter and I both love this CD. After hearing the samples we had to have it. It's so impressive to find a CD that melts the generation gap, and puts my 17 year old and I on the same wavelength. I love it that the music makes me move, and that the lyrics make me think. This is a wonderful CD. It's very well done, and well worth buying. I hope we will have the opportunity to see Alicia Grant in a live concert someday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, December 12, 2004

I'm a huge music fan and have a large CD collection, but I have to admit that I'm very impressed with the Alicia Grant CD. My opinion - Every song is great. I love the music and the lyrics and the way the songs make me feel when I'm listening. I don't have a lot of CD's that I just listen to over and over, but Dare To Confess sits in my CD player almost full time. I'm very happy that I heard Jezebel on XM, and even happier that I bought the CD. I think it's Awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful listening pleasure, December 26, 2004

I received this CD as a gift, and was basically blown away. I'm not very impressed by the current menagerie of POP diva wannabees who lip synch and digitally enhance their way up the charts, but I was clearly impressed with this album. When I first listened I liked it enough to play it again, and by the third or fourth go round I became keenly aware of nuances I took for granted at first. Strings and horns, multiple guitars and haunting background vocals I didn't hear before, started to enhance an already delightful listening pleasure. I love it and I will recommend it to everyone I know.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This CD, May 18, 2006

I'm really impressed with the vocals and production, and I love the pics in the CD booklet. The range of songs is cool, and I think the music offers something for everyone.
All of which makes the review below very bizarre. It doesn't have much to do with music, it's just a personal attack. Clearly this was written by someone with a grudge, NOT an interest in music.

This young lady has something to say and she says it very well indeed through her original songs and sensitive delivery. A wonderful mixture that is very smooth and pleasant listening.

My friend just bought the CD and pressed me to check it out. Well, I actually like that I can check out every song before buying, so I know exactly what I'm getting. I love Alicia's voice, and the music production, and the feeling I get when listening. This is great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty Appetizer, May 30, 2006

I found this chick on MySpace, fully checked out her website, aliciagrant.com, dug the samples & bought the CD. We're looking at 10 tracks of mostly catchy pop+rock+alternative groove. She reminds me a bit of Michelle Branch or Sheryl Crow, but not as annoying as Crow's voice can sometimes be. I read that her musical influences are Patty Griffin, Chantal Kreviazuk and Bonnie Raitt, but truth be told - I get a power pop, Kelly Clarkson mixed with Dido sound. One of my favorite songs is "Rescue Me," an upbeat emotional plea to help a prisoner of moral despair. I dig the Rock feel of "Solo," the upbeat "Jezebel," and emotional tracks like "Why Do I Fall" and "Sweet Memories." If you listen carefully to the lyrics, the pure vocal quality and the integrity built into this album, you'll get why I like this CD, and think it's worth the cash. The only song I didn't fully vibe was "Why Do I Fall." Too sad for this girl, given my recent romantic past. But other than one sad song, Alicia Grant knows how to create a mood, and some good catchy pop/rock tunes. The production was polished and didn't leave me wanting, except to wish there were more than 10 songs. I like it, "Dare To Confess." She's not Kelly, Gwen, Michelle or Mariah, (yet) but this CD is an oh so tasty appetizer of what I hope to expect next from this talented Artist. (Cassandra Beaulieu - Seattle)

I think she is a wonderful singer. I heard her sing a couple songs recently for her friends at the Coffeebean. She is very sweet, and a good guitar player. I like the words to her songs, especially Rescue Me, Jezebel and Solo. I like the vocals, the music and the nuances. It's a CD full of Good Things.
