5.0 out of 5 stars Yanni: in touch with his lighter nature
This album- imaginative and jovial in its nature- is a break from usual Yanni music in that it has taken a somewhat lighter turn. 3.0 out of 5 stars A new YANNI
I have been a fan of Yanni's for years until I ran across Bradley Joseph's music (Yanni's former keyboardist). If you like Yanni you will LOVE Bradley as he writes beautiful melodies and takes music were Yanni left off. Check him out at http;//www.bradleyjoseph.com

This album- imaginative and jovial in its nature- is a break from usual Yanni music in that it has taken a somewhat lighter turn. Most of the songs in this album contain hummable, extremely enjoyable melodies, which includes "Once upon a Time" and "Face in the Photograph." "Aria" is a variation from a French Opera and stands out as the unique vocal piece. You'll love this album as a medicine for your stress and hard day's work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Possibly Yanni's best original release, March 18, 2002
By
This review is from: Dare to Dream (Audio CD)
Most of Yanni's releases before this CD were compilations of earlier works. This was his first all new work in quite a while. And I still consider it his best work to date. This CD contains most of the pieces used in his "Live at the Acropolis". The "Live" CD and Video have a better performance of these pieces however, because of the added instrumentation. But in the realm of his non-live recordings, this is his best.

Another amazing album from an amazing contemporary composer. All tracks are simply soothing and mind blowing. If you have a highly refined musical taste then you will appreciate this album. He won a Grammy for this album. Must own CD. Also check out Yanni's DVDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dare NOT get this CD!, July 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dare to Dream (Audio CD)
Lately, I've been listening to all of Yanni's newer albums, that I thought were really GOOD. And when I found this one, I couldn't believe I'd missed it!! The professinal reviews on here are confusing, don't get them wrong. The music in here isn't slow and draggy, it's a mix. 'You Only Live Once' is probably the fastest paced one on here. But it doesn't mean the others are boring. The CD starts out interesting, with the first track, and then 'Nice to Meet You' plays, and, well, it's just plain beautiful. The songs are jam-packed with rythim and feeling. Strings, drums, synthizisers etc. Every instrument Yanni ever used, only now playing slower. And yes, 'Aria' is on here, but who cares? Why are people so peeved by that one anyway?! At least the women are going in tune, and are not screeching at the top of their lungs like some stupid rock band. Every song on this CD has personality, gets you imagining, can easily make you SOB also, espcially ones like 'So Long my Friend' and others. BUY this CD, if you want Yanni in a slightly slower ,more calming, but vividly pictured scene.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, elegant, and exotic. A great album to hear., January 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dare to Dream (Audio CD)
Yanni's "Dare to Dream", is a one of a kind album, possessing both power and strength with striking elegance and calmness. It possess a strong positive message that every song holds secretly, and that is, to always "run" after your dreams and desires, and they will eventually become a reality. Compared to the other albums, "Dare To Dream" generally is more graceful and smoother. Combining different musical styles and instruments ranging from classical to jazz and from the sweet sounding violin to the powerful and versatile sound of the keyboards, makes a unique, uplifting, and at the same time emotionally capturing form of music that is dominant in this album. From the delightful and elegantly smooth piano and violin dominant notes of "So Long My Friend", "To the One Who Knows" and "In The Mirror" to the the fast paced and surreal sounding of "You Only Live Once" and " Nice To Meet You" and the mysterious and exotic Mid-eastern influence on "Desire", this album will always continue to live as one of the best compositions of our time. Truly a special and excellent treat to our ears and a great strengthener for the soul and mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Guy is New Age...but Special, May 27, 2004
This review is from: Dare to Dream (Audio CD)
Yanni is the most inspiring New Age performer besides George Winston that I have ever listened to. He brings a lot of people great joy. You will love this CD...he is leagues above John Tesh.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you do not like this CD, you must be deaf!!!!!, October 1, 2006

Yanni at his best! This is definitely one of the turning points in the evolution of New Age music! You Only Live Once is amazing, albeit really long, and To The One Who Knows is an exquisite piece. I prefer the version of Felitsa that appears on In My Time to the one on here, but it is still a pretty piece! Desire is phenomenal, using synth pan flutes and dulcimer to create a very Eastern sound. Aria, let's face it, is just plain weird, but it is followed by A Night To Remember, which is equally wonderful to the rest of the album, although just a bit cliché towards the end. In The Mirror isn't the best piece to listen to, but it is really fun to play on the piano! This one's a must-have as well!

My favorites are "Nice to meet you" and "Face in the photograph." While some of the songs featured on this album are repeated in other albums, this one is still a must for your collection.
