This review is from: Dare to Lose : 4 Simple Steps to a Better Body (Hardcover)
Obesity is slowly killing millions of Americans, while leaving millions of others on the sidelines of life. Dr. Lieberman has crafted a superb book of safe, simple, scientific principles to quickly and permanently lose weight. DARE TO LOSE describes clever "tricks" for rapid weight loss that include nutrition supplements to maximize fat burning, special exercise routines that turn the body into a 24/7 fat burning furnace, all coupled with invaluable detoxification, mental pointers, and a tasty diet to reduce fat stores. If you really want to lose weight, then this is the last weight loss book you will ever need-because it works.Patrick Quillin, PhD,RD,CNS, (4nutrition.com) Director of Nutrition, Cancer Treatment Centers of America,

This book is written clearly and is easy to follow. The book has great sample meals to help you with the program. It is easy to eat out because the author gives you great examples to follow. I highly recommend this book.

I bought this book and I really like it. I heard SL on WBAI and she sounded like she knew what she was talking about. I read this book a lot and try to follow her guidance when it comes to dieting. I try to incorperate her ideas into my own eating habits and I follow her advice about excercise and supplements, I really see a difference in my body and fat loss.

Best weight loss tool I own,
By Stevie E Anderson (southern Wisconsin) - See all my reviews

I really got a lot of good from this book! She just makes so much sense and it is so easy to implement her suggestions into my day to day life. I actually borrowed a copy and then ordered 4 copies so I could share them with friends!
As I have added some of her wisdom into my daily routine I have finally been losing some inches instead of doing the steady gaining that has been going on since my mid 30s. I never did typical diets and this was the first weight management book I have ever purchased. Great book to start with as I'll never need anotherA!

GREAT and AWFUL,
By bookbuyerr "bookbuyerr" (Blue States, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dare to Lose (Paperback)
What's GREAT: Excellent and caring advice to lose the idea of a "perfect weight". Focus on inches (i.e. fat) and how you look. Informative and well-researched on useful weight/fat-loss supplements: Fish Oil, CoQ10, Chromium, Magnesium, EGCG, Glucosol, Pyruvate, CA, CLA, HCA, Ephedra, etc. (Also see Gittelman's co-authored The Real Vitamin and Mineral Book.) Emphasizes low GI foods. Reasonable general advice on reducing stress and getting exercise.
What's AWFUL: Fat phobic, recommends fat-free products and egg-white omelettes. Totally wrong on Ketosis (p.42): "People in ketosis are miserable because their brains are not getting the carbohydrate they need to function properly...", wrong, people can be in ketosis for years, brains (and hearts) function just fine on ketones, a Ph.D. should know about GLUCONEOGENESIS. Repeats the saturated fat myths: "Saturated fats... raise cholesterol levels in the blood and have been linked with increased risks in heart attacks and stroke" (p.139). Not quite true, see Gary Taubes' Good Calories, Bad Calories, or Jonny Bowden's Living Low Carb for science-based assessments of dietary fat. NEUTRAL (depending on reader): Vegetarian emphasis. I'd recommend this book for those looking for a low-fat type of diet, not so much for metabolically-resistant low-carbers.

Very Educational,

An awesome book, not only to aid in losing weight, but mainly in understanding how we gain weight and what happens to our bodies with each weight loss/gain. I wish I had this book as a teenager...it would have helped me to better maintain a healthy lifestyle. The info in this book should be taught in school. I commend Dr Shari Lieberman on a very educational tool for those of us that struggle with our weight.
