5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible deal!!, September 4, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)

i gave this five stars because of the excellent binding. this omnibus can actually be read like the thirty plus comic books they are without missing vital art and dialogue in the crease, i hope all future omnibus from Marvel are bound just like this

and the obvious reason this gets 5 stars:
the art of Alex Maleev is mind blowingly cool

5.0 out of 5 stars Daredevil stories you cant put down, October 6, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
First off, i wasn't a big DD fan before or one at all, i bought the first DD omnibus to give it a chance based on reviews, and thought it was "alright" but didn't get overly into it as people said it would be. Then i picked up the second omnibus, the DD omnibus companion that came after, and was really blown away on how good it was, far better than the first omnibus, i couldn't put it down!

Well guess what the 3rd DD omnibus marvel produces spectacular, even if you aren't a DD fan, this book is not one to pass, get it while you can before it goes out of print (if it ever does). The story telling is just so well done, the art is fantastic, i really love David Mack's whacky art. Some of these stories barely even have Daredevil in them and they are totally awesome. Almost hate to put the book down to go back to work :-D

One more note, is that marvel is really getting the hang of producing these Omnibuses they have done a great job of putting together this book to open like you would a comic. So far the best bind omnibus to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Volume!, September 24, 2008

This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
I've had trouble filling in these issues in my collection, so this volume was great to have. It's a heavy, high quality tome full of a premiere Daredevil arc.

As has been said before, you don't lose any of the (great) art in the creases like you do in standard soft cover graphic novels. If you're the kind of person that would like a big book full of Daredevil comics, you won't be disappointed. This is put together so well that I'm strongly considering purchasing the Captain America omnibus. I could fill a few bookshelves with these if Marvel keeps producing.

Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maalev probably created one of the three best comics I have ever read (with Arkham Asylum and The Watchmen). Amazing and uber efficient drawings, magnificent storytelling, this is a sheer masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daredevil goodness., June 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
I don't like Bendis. He is not a very good writer now. But he was a good writer before Marvel gave him so much power to shape the future of their comics line. This HUGE omnibus proves that. This is Bendis at his best.

The main plot of this omnibus is that the secret of Matt Murdock being Daredevil is released to the public, and Matt's life is turned upside down.

Amazing art by Alex Maleev, and although I LOVE Terry Dodson (he pencils two issues in this omnibus) his art seems VERY out of place in this book after Maleev's issues... but anyways. Completely recommended for any Daredevil fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bendis meets Daredevil, January 19, 2009
This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
Before he became Marvel's most prolific writer, Brian Michael Bendis took the reins of Daredevil, and spectacular results ensued. The beginnings of Bendis' prolific run on Daredevil begins here with this Omnibus, which finds Bendis changing the hero of Hell's Kitchen's status quo. Here, we witness Daredevil's secret identity of Matt Murdock get outted by the press, his once again going toe to toe with the Kingpin, and above all else, making a mess out of his own life. Bendis faves like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage make plenty of appearances, while Bendis makes great use of frequent Daredevil supporting characters Black Widow, Typhoid Mary, Bullseye, Foggy Nelson, Echo, and Elektra. What makes Bendis' run even better is the artwork of his frequent collaborator Alex Maleev, who provides some stunning, dark, and gritty work that more than suits the character and the tone, while there's also other great contributions from David Mack, Lee Weeks, Terry Dodson, and more besides. All in all, Bendis' run on Daredevil is by and far the best treatment the character had received since Frank Miller's classic runs on the title, and if you've missed out on Bendis' work on Daredevil, this handsome omnibus is wholeheartedly worth picking up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Re-emergence of the Man Without Fear, February 21, 2010
This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
This is a really good read & the art is brilliant to look at. Bendis does a great job of using Matt Murdock's character instead of Daredevil's and his supporting cast. My main gripe would be the pacing. Without this book being an omnibus I don't think I would've been able to read this in single issue format or even in single volume hardcovers. There's not awful lot happening too quickly and it's a gradual progression of a story. It's more of an epic than anything else. It does put Daredevil back on the comic book world map though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ordered two copies on accident., October 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
We all know the contents of this book are superb. Brian Michael Bendis won an Eisner Award for the 2003 portion of this work.

I accidentally ordered one too many copies of this book and "Captain America Omnibus Vol.1" while deployed. I came home to visit my parents and was way past the 30-day return policy window. I emailed customer service and was granted an exception-to-policy.

I left the books with my parents in Kansas, returned to my Army unit overseas, and was going to send my father a shipping label with instructions. However, amazon.com beat me to the punch and had the UPS driver at my parents' house asking for the returning merchandise.

This was more than I could have asked for and meant a lot to me because my mother is having health problems right now, and my father doesn't have the time or energy to be running errands to the post office on my behalf.

The funds were refunded to my credit card promptly and all was well. Actually, all was perfect. So to all you fine folks at amazon.com, my family and I would like to say THANK YOU.
