Book Description

September 1, 2000
Author John White takes us on a journey through ten of the most significant prayers in history, all recorded in the Bible. We listen in as Abraham pleads for Sodom and Gomorrah, as David confesses his sin, as Hannah prays for a child, as Paul intercedes for others, and as Jesus poured his heart out to his heavenly Father. White explores the prayers of Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Job, Daniel, David, Hannah, Paul, and Jesus, giving us a window on prayer and the God to whom we pray--a God who is interested in "two-way" communication.

This review is from: Daring to Draw Near: Prayers That Help Us Know Who God Is (Paperback)
This is a reprint of a very good book by John White -- likely to take advantage of the 'Prayer of Jabez' craze. While this book might not have the same popular appeal as 'Jabez', I believe it presents a more balanced perspective on prayer through the study of ten unique prayers in the Bible.

Even 10+ years later, the observations and lessons from this book still remain true. If you haven't thought much about prayer and God's interaction with us through prayer, this is a great place to start.
