romantic suspense at its' finest,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Angel (Paperback)
In the Tidewater section of Virginia, school teacher Ellen Cox was driving to work when the bridge she was on collapsed. Her life is saved by the fast action of Dr. Ben Bradshaw, who was driving nearby. Their story makes the paper. However, as she recovers from her ordeal, a reporter informs Ellen that her background information is bogus. There is no record of her birth and most of the locations she described do not exist. Meanwhile, "the Church Pew Killer" is on a rampage, murdering eleven women. To Ellen's horror, the victims are identical to those occupying the nightmares that she now suffers. The FBI is on the case, trying to find a link between an old tragedy, Ellen, and the killer. Unbeknownst to Ellen, Ben or Agent Graham, the serial killer has tabbed Ellen to be his triumphant twelveth victim. Fans of psychological suspense and serial killers will enjoy DARK ANGEL. Ellen is an intrepid character, who battles against perilous odds that would have frozen Pauline. The support cast helps propel the thrilling story line forward. However, what turns Donna Ball's terrifying tale into a terrific novel is the twisted logic employed by the killer to defend his actions. Harriet Klausner

A Page Turner,
By Lizbeth Pimentel (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Angel (Paperback)
This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I really enjoyed it. This is one of the few books that have given me NIGHTMARES! I love it. I couldn't sleep for nights. If you want to read a page turner this is the book for you. Donna Ball has never written such an excellent book. Stephen King doesn't even have a book this scary out. I just have one thing to say about this book I LOVE IT!

This is an excellent book of psychological suspense with a touch of romance. It is well-written with an excellent plot and characters that are fully fleshed. The storyline will keep the reader riveted to its pages with its twists and turns. When Ellen Cox, a teacher of the deaf, is enmeshed in a death defying freak accident, she looks death in the eye and survives, aided by a young doctor who becomes enamored of her. She comes to national prominence because of the nature of the accident and gains her fifteen minutes of fame. Through a reporter, she discovers that her background is not what she thought it was. In fact, she discovers that there is no record of her existence. Meanwhile, murders are occurring at an alarming rate. It seems that there is a serial killer on the loose, and this killer has Ellen in the cross-hairs. Moreover, in the recesses of Ellen's mind, there is something about this killer that is on the threshold of her consciousness. Just what it is, however, Ellen is unable to fathom. Can FBI agent and profiler, Matt Graham, get to the killer, before the killer gets to Ellen. Just what is the connection between Ellen and the killer? Already eleven women have died at the hands of this killer. Will Ellen be the twelfth? Read this absorbing book for the answer.

A great dark suspense novel,

The nifty premise of Dark Angel kept me guessing right to the last page. The book is an escalating nail-biter with a highly effective villain and a clever plot. Donna Ball is a writer who deserves far more fame.

Good characters, good plot, pour research,
By SP in WV (Lewisburg, WV) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Angel (Paperback)
I read this book very quickly because it was hard to put down, the characters and plot were wonderful. I understand the necessity of fictional places, but please Charleston is where birth records in WV are kept. Charlottesville is in Virginia. Do your research.

WOW--definite must read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Angel (Paperback)
This book was nail biting, breath catching suspense. I enjoyed it up to the last chapter. Then I got confused, all through the book the woman I thought was the love interest of one of the major characters, turns out to be his daughter. This left me a little confused & wary. I'm hoping the author just lost her focus. Outside of that one thing, this book left me reeling to the end.
