End of Times style deck, July 12, 2010
This review is from: Dark Angels Tarot Deck (Cards)
"When the dance is done the last grain of sand in the glass will fall and time itself shall end." from the LWB
Lo Scarabeo has recently released, "the Dark Angels Tarot," created by Luca Russo. I found this deck to be very "gothic." Most of the angels portrayed in this deck are very risque. It is a very post apocalyptic tarot. The palette used is dark greys, deep purples, shades of black, midnight blues, and golds. The backs of the cards have a symbol of a partial mask, this does make it difficult for reading reversals because you are able to see from the back if the card is reversed or not. The majors are not labeled by name, but have roman numerals on the top and bottom of the card. The art is beautiful in a dark way, I only wish that the images were slightly larger.
The minors are labeled by symbols, for example; on the wands at the bottom of the card is a aymbol of a wand and at the top is the number. The court cards are also labeled with symbols. The Page has a horse head symbol, the knight has a helmet, the queen has a feminine crown, and the king has a masculine crown. The borders on the minors also differentiate by color. The Wands border is grey, the cups border is red, the swords border is blue, and the pentacles border is a muted gold. The minors are not another rider/waite clone, they very loosely follow some of the rider waite symolism, but I feel Luca created his own symbolism in this deck.
The LWB is in english, italian, spanish, french, and German. I did enjoy the, "Secret Heart Spread" created for this tarot. The interpretaions for the cards listed in the lwb, i found to be entertaining. They are dark but very contemplative. My favorite interpretaion was for the Page of Wands, "The angel brings messages from the dead, the future is the past to come."
Overall I really enjoyed this deck. I feel that this deck would be ideal for doing, "shadow" work. If you are someone who enjoy's, "gothic" style art or post apocalyptic themes, I believe you will enjoy this deck.

great addition to any dark tarot collections, December 22, 2010
This review is from: Dark Angels Tarot Deck (Cards)
this deck is a beautiful. if you need an a deck where the each card literally tells you its meaning then this isn't a deck for you, the deck utilizes your own interpretation of the card. the images on this deck are dark but not to the point where it would creep out you or the questioner. the images are honestly just sad and gloomy. each card as with many tarot deck almost depicts its own story. which forces the reader to narrate it in his or her own way. the only drawback to this deck is the back piece depicting half of a mask, which is a giveaway if you utilize reversal readings. but as a collector this a very artistic deck. another good thing to point out is the theme is not over done. compared to a lot of 'dark' decks where the images are overly dramatic showing how 'gothic' the deck is. the images are primarily dark angels in a dark post apocalyptic world. there are no cliche looking vampires cover in blood or muscular werewolves howling at the moon.
this deck emphasizes on the darker and sadder aspect of life but as always 'in the darkness comes light. this is a good addition to any tarot arsenal to explore the darker aspect of reading, without the need to see excess blood, gore or excessive demonic imagery.
a funny fact if your a fan of the musician 'emily autumn' shes on the 9 of cups.

If you love Tarot cards for the art these are for you., February 12, 2011
This review is from: Dark Angels Tarot Deck (Cards)
These cards are beautiful. How ever they are not for beginers. They do not have face names or numbers. Which can be fusterating in the begining. They are a set of easier one to remember though due to the pictures are so vibrant and diffrent there is no question of which suite you are looking at.
I do not like the booklet that comees with them. the Designers could have put more effort into it. If you are new and just cant pass them up I suggest buying a book that explaines more about tarot so that you can learn and be comfortable using these cards as fast as you can charge them.
