Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Dark Arena for the Game Boy Advance is a first-person shooter in the classic gameplay style of Doom, but with the refinements and additions of games such as GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. Frantic and fun, Dark Arena combines raw action gameplay with strategic play and puzzle solving. It's the year 2146, and the United Arms Organization has completed the top-secret training of its finest soldiers. Genetically engineered opponents have been created to assess the combat skills of each trainee. These opponents are extremely dangerous, very aggressive, and considered the ultimate challenge. And now they have taken over the facility, killing everybody--everybody but you. Defeat the enemies and you just might live long enough to cross the camp and escape.

The game features texture-mapped 3-D environments and characters, 20 levels of full-on action, and multiple enemies and bosses, each with a unique style of attack. Your arsenal includes six deadly weapons. There are special deathmatch-specific areas with multiplayer link-up games (requires Game Link cable). The animated, textured environments feature unique lighting effects and destructible objects. You must solve puzzles, collect items, and avoid traps while battling enemies. Prerendered FMV sequences, the musical score, and sound effects add to the atmosphere.

Product Description

Everything seemed just dandy in the United Arms Organization. The best crop of young soldiers ever had just completed its training, and it seemed the time was ripe to challenge some genetically-engineered sparring partners. Unfortunately, the creations developed minds of their own, killed most of the human soldiers, and began to develop further plans. As the only soldier to survive the massacre, it's up to you to devise some means of not only escaping the area alive, but taking out all of the enemies on your way home.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Game for What It's Meant to Be, October 1, 2002
This review is from: Dark Arena (Video Game)
Dark Arena is a fantastic game. I wanted a First Person Shooter that didn't require tons of thinking and puzzle solving. I just wanted something to relax with and have some fun with after a long day at work. This game accomplishes that. It has suprisingly crisp and colorful graphics. For those people that said the graphics stink, I think their expectations are too high. This is not on an X-Box or NGC. It's on a GBA with a tiny screen. I feel that the enemies have great looks to them and the weapons are fun and creative. The only reason that I have not given this game 5 stars is because there is not music during the game and I don't like writing down passwords. I wish it had a built in "Save" feature. Other than that, this game is awesome! All video games do not have to be extremely complex and difficult in order to be fun! Lots of games now are way too complex...So complex in fact that they aren't any fun if you just want to sit down and play for a little bit because it takes too much time and effort to get into them. Don't get me wrong, I like many of those games too, but that's not what this game's about. Purchase this game if you want a fun, medium involved, stress relieving game!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dark Arena Review, March 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Arena (Video Game)
This game is -hands down- the worst FPS I have ever played. It's BackTrack all over again. The animation is choppy, the enemies are extremely easy to beat, and the pixely graphics are very uninspiring. If you sit down and play it, you can beat the whole game in under 2 hours. There is no challenge, even in hard mode. If you want a good FPS definately get Ecks vs. Sever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT waste your money on this game!, April 23, 2002

Dark Arena is the worst GameBoy Advanced game I've ever played. It's graphics are sorta okay for a first person GameBoy Advanced game, but the AI Script is terrible. The monsters don't chase you! Some parts are very confusing because of the graphics. Where the monsters are placed is really horrible, like they were firing something right in front of them when they try firin at you. There's a better game than this... Doom. Get that if you really want a first person shooter for GBA. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK!
