5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, thought-provoking book...
Castro's book was insightful and interesting. I could not put it down, and read it cover-to-cover in one sitting! The book made me think about my subconscious and how my thinking affected the way I felt about myself, and subsequently of my motives and behaviors toward others. Castro's concepts include documenting experiences and feelings to better understand (upon a...

1.0 out of 5 stars The Dark Before the Garbage.
I purchased this book after seeing the Author on a Dallas TV morning show and I was really disappointed when I got it. I found that Theresa isn't even a doctor and has no experience in the self-help field, she is just some lady who decided to write a book about healing. Her ability to write about subjects that she has no formal training in, has inspired me to write a...

Castro's book was insightful and interesting. I could not put it down, and read it cover-to-cover in one sitting! The book made me think about my subconscious and how my thinking affected the way I felt about myself, and subsequently of my motives and behaviors toward others. Castro's concepts include documenting experiences and feelings to better understand (upon a later reading) of what occupies our unconscious mind. Interestingly enough, this is not obvious to the conscious! Finally, Castro's writing style is interesting because she writes in a style similar to story telling... relating to the reader episodes in her life that found positive outcomes. Essentially Castro found insight in her own experiences through her journaling of her experiences, struggle, and pain... I have read many self-help books, and this one is unique, and very enjoyable to read... The bibliography of the book reflects an assortment of eastern and western literature that blends the best of philosophies for understanding the self. It is a must read.

I enjoyed reading the experiences that the author had in what life brings us. I recently had been diagnosed with depression and seeked professional help that also changed my life. It was good to read how I also could relate to the authors discoveries. My period of self discovery has been positive. I also enjoyed the examples and suggestions that Theresa Castro gives on different topics. I find myself going back to refresh on certain topics that I'm involved in during that time. This book indeeds offers a " Glympse of the light ahead ".

This review is from: The Dark Before the Dawn: 70 Secrets to Self-Discovery (Paperback)
"The Dark before the Dawn" is an excellent book that will not only help you know who you are and love who you are, It gives concrete ways to find and stay on your personal path to inner-peace. Life is an amazing adventure and tremendous challenge. Our paths are personal but it seems we all share in the mountain top and valley experiences. The blessing in this is that as each of us find the answers to our seeking, we are then able to share with others and help to move them to higher ground. I believe this is the purpose of much that we experience. Theresa Castro does a wonderful job of expressing her personal path and gives solid advice on how to conquer many challenges that we all share. I would highly recommend this book to any person who is seeking the better way. You will gain some valuable knowledge and wisdom as you read and put into practice the suggested solutions. There really are only two directions to go in life, forward and higher. This book will help you with your quest. Good luck in your search for the beauty of life. It's all around you, look and see!

I truly enjoyed reading the Dark before the Dawn. The journaling exercises were very useful and insightful. I now feel empowered to make changes in my life that I probably should have done a long time ago. I especially liked this book since it was written from the author's personal experience. I could relate to so many things that she was saying. I appreciate her honesty and candor. The Dark before the Dawn should be on everyone's list of books to read.

Theresa Castro did a fantastic job covering so many topics in a short and concise manner. This book is an easy, must-read! I believe so many people live in the "dark" and don't realize how easy it is to find the "dawn". This book can get you there and get you there fast! I also had the opportunity to attend one of her many Workshops and it was incredible. The thought provoking exercises can take you to a new level of comfort with your dreams and your ability to achieve those dreams. Thank you Theresa, for your amazing work!

I purchased this book after seeing the Author on a Dallas TV morning show and I was really disappointed when I got it. I found that Theresa isn't even a doctor and has no experience in the self-help field, she is just some lady who decided to write a book about healing. Her ability to write about subjects that she has no formal training in, has inspired me to write a book on a subject that I know nothing about like astro physics. And to make matters worse, the exercises contained in the book are pretty much common sense. I don't recommend this book.
