Dark Sun is for the toughest breed.,
By The Wanderer (Adelaide, S.A. AUSTRALIA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Sun Campaign Setting, Expanded and Revised (Paperback)
As a veterine of AD&D I can say that Dark Sun is truly original and represents new challenges and general style off roleplaying. Be warned however that Dark Sun is harsh, and that if you find your self running around in plate-male armor and are armed to the teeth with magic or steel weapons then your DM is doing the wrong thing.Athas (the world of Dark Sun) has scarcely any metal, has an over supply of deadly psionic monsters, and is home to evil sorcerer kings, and a handful of unique races. I have been playing for over 4years real time and, have owned but one magic weapon which was promptly taken from me. These situations are great to get an adventure started as players will do anything to get steel or magic weapons back. I hope that me review has convinced you the reader to pursue a Dark Sun Campaigne believe me you wont regret it. Signed: The Wanderer

Big Job for great future, but there wasnt continue.,

This review is from: Dark Sun Campaign Setting, Expanded and Revised (Paperback)
This word is great, presents a new view of the game (not the typical Tolkien medieval word). The set includes a great information well presented, accesories, maps, and the best for me was the suplement 'The way of the Psioniscist', where all psionic matter is arranged, great if u like playing Psionics(to any campaing); and the goal for the adventures is great: Save and change the world. The problem is that now Dark Sun is discontinued, and only some adventures, settings and accesories appeared after this; well if u think u are great DM, and want something different than a group of heros hacking, slashing and solving quests, here you found Dark Sun.

Dark Sun Rules!,

This campaign is awesome! The setting is full of new ideas and concepts. I jighly recomend it. On the downside it is for AD&D. But I find the conversion to 3.5 easy to accomplish. But I am an experienced DM, I would not try it unless you fully understand your current rules set.

Players Perspective,
This review is from: Dark Sun Campaign Setting, Expanded and Revised (Paperback)
I have only played in one DarkSun world, and the campaign was short to say the least. I own the original boxed set and read it for fun. It is wonderful, I am dismayed however that I forced to visit used bookstores and garage sales to find new (old) material to read. This world is not for the hack and slash players, and it is not for those who want to gain as much power as they can as quickly as they can. Athas is a harsh place suitable to be played in only by those that truly enjoy "roleplaying".

Dark Sun Rulessssssssss!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Sun Campaign Setting, Expanded and Revised (Paperback)
I think if the Dark Sun world is been discontinued it's because people aren't playing it so much. Let's buy and play Dark Sun and TSR will see that it's the BEST AD&D Campaign Setting, and it doesn't need any acessories or something because it's a complete and savage world, perfect only for the strongest player!
