Have a Lan party with this game- it is a blast! You can load everybody with one CD and the CD is only needed on the computer hosting the game during gameplay. Multiplayer on a Local Area Network can be played Cooperative or against your freinds or the computer; with up to 8 people playing. This has been one of my favorite games since it came out 14 years ago. It was overshadowed by Starcraft back then- so it missed all the attention it deserved. I guess there was a small expansion in 1998 called The Council Wars which I am trying to find.

As mentioned in other reviews- the only thing I can fault in this game is there are not enough maps and no way to add any; and the opponents are pretty much identical, but I guess this took care of any balancing problems.

I bought this game new. Even last night I still play it from time to time. Love RTS by Blizzard. But this game is simple, fun, sound effects great, and most of all, FUN!!! It's a keeper. Only draw back is lack of makeing up new maps and lack of expantion packs. No battlenet kind of web sight for multiplayer so I'm left to play alone but never bored. If you get, you wont be disappointed.

The ultimate in space marine vs. littil gray guys! At least for this early of a pc game. Love the Exploding Heads! Har Har Har!

When this game first came out. It was my favorite and still is. I think it was way ahead of it's time. I think they should come out with Dark Colony II. You won't be let down. I still play this game a lot.
