I truly enjoyed the world of faeries that Ms. Spear created in The Dark Fae. The world building was well done, the character's strong and the story kept me coming back for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book to read on a rainy day!, September 8, 2011

This review is from: The Dark Fae (The World of Fae) (Kindle Edition)
I really did not think that I would like this book. I was wanting to pass time and bought this on a whim. I enjoyed the story and the characters. They were fun and likable and the book was a quick and easy read. I wish there had been a bit more of a darker side to this story but overall I did enjoy it. I will read the rest in this series mainly because it is a nice change of pace when wanting a simple book to read. It is somewhat lighthearted and maybe a little predictable but that isn't always a bad thing, especially if the characters are as fun as these.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Quick Fun Read, November 30, 2011
Anyone who knows me, knows I love all things Fae. Heck, I even tease my daughters, telling them that my flower bed is a secret faerie garden. When asked by Terry Spears to review The Dark Fae, I jumped at the chance, not to be disappointed. I adored that part of the story took place at South Padre Island...I am from Texas after all, plus I adore the ocean. Deveron and Alicia were fun as guides in their crazy world.

Alicia has always known she can see Fae but she has never known how deeply her sight is implanted in her. When she sees "the evil" dark fae flirting with her best friend, Alicia throws ice cold coke on him. I would have paid to see his face...especially since he is fae royalty. Deveron realizes immediately that there is something different about Alicia. Through several laugh provoking experiments, he figures out that she can see even invisible fae. It doesn't take him long to figure out she needs protection and he is the only one who can help; neither of them know exactly what they are getting themselves into.

While I definitely enjoyed this fantastical tale, I didn't find the world as intriguing as I would have liked. There was something missing that didn't pull me deep into the story.

The Dark Fae was a quick and fun story. I loved the interaction between Deveron, Alicia, and Ritasia (Deveron's sister). They were quirky, quick-witted, and exciting.

*I was given an e-book copy of The Dark Fae by Terry Spear in exchange for my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story for All Ages, February 20, 2012
Alicia thinks she is an ordinary teenager who is enjoying a summer vacation on South Padre Island beach, but she is in for a surprise when a guy who shows up to hit on her friend turns out to be a dark fae of the royal house of Denkar...and she recognizes him. Alicia has the ability to see the fae in their invisible form and can see the golden ring around their eyes that no other human can see. Now she has a BIG problem. The dark faery would kill her if he knows about her ability. She has to save her friend from the dark fae.

So begins this terrific story, The World of Fae, Book 1, penned by Terry Spear. What follows is a wonderful romp through the world of humans and faeries as Alicia and Deveron set the wheels in motion for a fast-paced page turner. The book is chock full of delightful descriptions of the different types of fae and their magical abilities. The Dark Fae was intended for young adults, but I found it to be well written and enjoyable for adults as well. It held my attention from beginning to end and I recommend it to anyone who loves a wonderful, sweet story about magical beings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enter the World of the Fae, January 14, 2012
This review is from: The Dark Fae (The World of Fae) (Kindle Edition)
Alicia knows she's different than most teenage girls her age. She has the uncanny ability to recognize the fae and all they do to cause mischief, but this ability is dangerous. The fae will not allow a human to know their business.

Alicia attempts to rescue her friend from Deveron, a gorgeous dark fae, but her plans backfire when she lets jealousy interfere. Now her secret is out and Deveron could never refuse a challenge.

Ms. Spear knows how to spin a tale that brings the reader under her spell. Dark and mysterious Deveron will capture your heart as you learn there's more to being a dark fae than mischief and devious acts of havoc. Alicia is a strong-willed girl who is perfect for a headstrong fae. She finds out more about the world of the fae and what this will mean for her future.

Magical worlds aren't just for young adults, I enjoyed this tale and look forward to reading the other books in this series.
