More About the Author

Angela Dorsey doesn't know which she loved first, horses or books, because she's loved both for as long as she can remember. In fact, she rode her first horse when she was three years old - she climbed through a fence and onto the back of a horse sleeping in a field. Was she ever surprised when the horse stood up and started carrying her away!

Almost as much as reading and riding and hanging out with horses, she loved to daydream - so it was the most natural thing in the world for her to eventually become a writer of horse books. So far, she's written twenty-five novels, and horses have been at the center of twenty-four of them. Three of her books are individual novels, but the rest are in three series, Freedom, Horse Guardian, and Whinnies on the Wind.

Her novels have been translated into nine different languages and sold in many countries around the world. Which brings us to one of Angela's favourite things about writing: the readers! Angela considers it a great honour to write books for the generous, kind-hearted readers who seem to love her books, and she hopes to be writing books for them for many years to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Premise with Promise, February 26, 2006
This review is from: Dark Fire (Hardcover)
**The following is from the back of the book I DID NOT write it**
Lisa's dad is consumed by his own bitterness at having to sell Evergreen Manor and all the horses to a stranger. When he discovers that Lisa is visiting the new owner old Mr. Pickering, he completely loses it. He grabs her arm and yells at her. Lisa is scared. This is not the dad she used to know. But she is determined to go on visiting the old man and her beloved horse Jupiter. She sneaks out at night - not only to avoid her dad's anger but also to try and stay clear of Mr. Pickering's horrible nephew Jimmy. Jimmy has told her that his uncle doesn't want Lisa around the stables anymore, but Lisa does not believe him. When Jimmy starts to become increasingly threatening, Lisa doesn't know what to do.

Then - out of the blue - a mysterious girl with golden hair appears. She says her name is Angelica and offers to help Lisa. Lisa is grateful, but scared as well. There is something really weird about this unknown girl. Who is she? Where did she come from?

**My Review**
Here's an interesting mix of a murder mystery and the supernatural! The book is about a girl, her horse, and the supernatural being (an angel?) that protects horses and the people who love them. Although the series is called "Horse Angel" it wasn't religious and will be enjoyed by non-religious readers. The author did a great job of setting up suspense and characters. Only "4" on the scale because the characters could have been a little more developed but were still definitely worth reading. This book has the promise to create the base for a good series.
