Book Description

May 4, 1991
"He murdered his wife," they whispered. Nicholas Bragg, Earl of Dragmore, was notorious--even after a British court found him innocent. Now they called him Lord of Darkness, as much for his rakish good looks as for his black reputation.

She was an innocent at passion's gate. Arriving uninvited at the massive stone manor, she shivered with terror--and excitement. Jane Barclay was his ward. Her sunny, innocent nature was in violent contrast to his hot temper. He was wild, explosive, an uncouth Texas rakehell--exactly the wrong kind of man for an English beauty to tame.

Together they would be swept into the dark storm of their passionate destiny...and wild, all-consuming love.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY HOT!!!, November 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Fires (Mass Market Paperback)
If you have read "Innocent Fire," then you must read this novel. It is about Nicholas Bragg, the first-born son of Derek and Miranda. He is also the Earl of Dragmore. He is rumored to have murdered his first wife even after he was found innocent by a British court. He is wild, explosive, uncouthed and as handsome as sin. Jane Barclay becomes his ward and she is determined to tame the Texas rakehell. Their story is simply delicious. One that you will read time and time again.

If you love the Bragg series, you'll love this edition to the series. Dark Fires is a sensual, hot, passionate story. Nicholas Bragg, the son of Derek and Miranda in Innocent Fire, is living in hell. He is dealing with a family secret he cannot share, his wife is dead and socitey thinks he killed her and most importantly he has a new young ward who he needs to stay away from. Jane, is a young, sensual innocent girl who falls in love with the powerful Nicholas. This book is hot. Jane is willing to do anything to have Nicholas take an interest in her. Little does she know that he is fighting himself and his love and lust for her. Once these two characters come together, they share a firey passion and are desperate for each other's love. This book is great. It has a passionate love scences, strong characters, creative story line, excitement and more. If you can get this book, get it! You'll read it more than once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exasperating but good, April 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Fires (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed the book very much especially the first half. After that there were times I felt like throwing the book across the room. One misunderstanding after another and I felt for both Nick and Jane. He being part Indian felt all women would be repelled. Jane, Nick's ward loves him from the start and so does he but he doesn't think it's right after all he is supposed to find her a husband. Again I have to go back to the misunderstandings that tear these two apart. If you can handle that, then read on... the ending is worth the read. You will not be disappointed.
