Well-written adventures, but no maps,
By Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Dark and Hidden Ways (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons) (Paperback)
Dark and Hidden Ways was a supplement written for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, 2nd Edition, and was bundled with the Dungeoneer's Survival Guide - or at least the one I have was. The book contains seven mini-modules that can be slipped into just about any campaign. Each of the different adventures has a different total party rating (from 9th level average for Drow Magic-User and Dracolich down to 3rd for Goblins).
For the most part the adventures are well-written, with an interesting storyline, and some very clever traps and story twists. The only drawback is that the adventures include absolutely no maps; it is up to the Dungeon Master to figure his own maps from the information in the narrative of the adventure. Nonetheless, though, it is a very good resource and I highly recommend it to everyone who plays AD&D-2E. |
