FEEHAN GOES MANGA!!,
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
I loved it!! This is a great manga and stayed true to her story "Dark Hunger" from the Hot Blooded anthology. The pictures are very well done and I was happy to find a teen rating on this. Yet another way to enjoy the dark books!
I think it is very odd that so many reviewers had trouble telling that this was a manga before buying. I guess amazon should have put "manga" or "graphic novel" instead of "paperback". However, it isn't Feehan's fault and I think it is VERY mean to blame her. She made it very clear what people were getting on her website and newsletter. Don't bash her because you don't like comic books. Yes this book is a RE-ISSUE, she already wrote the book. If you want to read the novel get Hot Blooded. If you are looking for the new Dark Book this year get Dark Possession in hardcover. If you are looking for paperbacks get Dark Celebration. Already read um? Try Safe Harbor or Deadly Game for more Feehan enjoyment. Leave the manga to those who will enjoy it!

Great Comic,
By
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
I see that there are a lot of bad reviews on this with the frequent lines of "I didn't realize that it was a comic...." WELL, in the editorial Review section beneath the comic, it does state that it's a comic/manga format so those that were disappointed because it wasn't a book should have taken the time to read the details first.
I've read the book and it was great and I have to say that the comic was a good idea and the graphics were well done and it stayed true to the the storyline. I enjoyed it as much as the original "book"

Not a Happy Camper.,
By Dawn Ibanez "paranormal lover" (Burtonsville, MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
I've read the other reviews, and I have to say, I knew that this was going to be a graphic novel. I can go on and on about how this isn't a Manga but that isn't even why I hated this book.
Now, I have to say that I like graphic novels, and thought that this adventure would be different from the other Carpathian novels. The adventure was different, but in the completely wrong direction. Stories/Novels like this... especially Romance, shouldn't be rated T+. That's for 15-16 year olds. This was a story that's supposed to ignite passion and desire... you can't do that so watered down. And believe me, this was watered down. Again, I can go on and on about the things that I didn't like. But with so many reviews saying how great this was, and the only negatives being that this was a comic book, I wanted to tell you real reasons not to pick this one up.

Why are some of the reviewers complaining that they were shocked and suprised that this was a graphic novel. If the had taken just a milla second to read the books description or paid any attintion to the authers blurbs tthey would not be suprised. The info that this book was in a diffrent format than her others has been out there as long as the info on this upcoming title has been out there. And i apllode the auther for taking such a steo into a new venu. You Go Girl!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the Manga format of Feehan's novel Hot Blooded!,
By KFirz "katfirz" (SLC, UT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
I loved the book Hot Blooded when it came out years ago and I'm thrilled that it came out again in Manga. Ever since my teen boys introduced me to graphic novels I've enjoyed reading a few of their "comic books." So it was great fun to see one of my favorite authors (and books) out in a new format. Now if we could just go see a Feehan novel made into a movie on the big screen I would be totally ecstatic. All of her books would be such fantastic movies. I love seeing a book I love out in other formats. The pictures are great... thank you to a wonderful artist and I like that they stayed true to the original book. I totally enjoyed the Manga. And my three boys are excited for the new format too. I would love to see more of Feehan's books done in Manga. In fact I would love to see them start with Dark Prince and do the entire Dark Series in Manga. That would be so Amazing!

I knew that Christine was going to release a comic book. This was something different then reading the actual book.Reading as a comic book is straight to the point and a little fast.I like that she was willing to try this way,but for me I like to use my own imagination when Im reading.Dont get me wrong this is good comic book ....but ONLY for those who love comic books.Recommended for those who love pictures with their stories:)

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
Let me be honest, it is a comic book, but when I pre ordered it, I knew what I was getting into. If you are a true Christine Feehan fan, you could have figured that out when you looked at her website. Now, that I said that, let me move on...I do like it but I love reading her regular novels more. I like to visualize my characters while reading. This was the first time I read a comic book in my life and I am 30 years old, but I will say if she give it another go with another book, I will read that one also.
Maybe, just maybe, if it was in color, it would be better. Just my opinion. I'm not fun of black and white

Fantastic - A Dream come true,
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
Dark Hunger is finally in Manga format. It's about time. Thank you so much for having the creativity and courage to put your book Dark Hunger in this format. It takes courage to present your product in a different manner. When I purchased my copy on Amazon; I certainly understood what I was buying. Also your website showed the format and sample pages. Can't wait to see future books in this format, to complement the novel. Also love your audiobooks.

A brilliant foray into manga for Christine Feehan,

It takes talent to pull off this mix of Carpathians and Manga, and Feehan does it.

This is NOT a Manga!!!,
By AeryonSun (Ohio, US of A) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Hunger (Paperback)
First and foremost if you are reading this and think it is a true manga you are WRONG! True manga is from Japan and is a wonderful genre of it's own. It is beautiful with compelling story lines, goreous artwork and with a flow and style all it's own. So please Please PLEASE don't lump all manga in the catagory of this mess.
This is an American graphic novel and a horrible one at that. American graphic novels can also be beautiful and enjoyable to read. However it is clear that Christine Feehan is not a graphic novelist. Just because you can write a novel does NOT mean you can write a graphic novel. There are rules to writing comic books and graphic novels. The main one being, have a great artist backing your words. The artwork in this book was scary awful. There were scenes that were supposed to be sexy and seductive that fell flat and scenes that were supposed to tug at the heart strings and well...didn't. Not only that the story itself moved at such a fast pace that it was a whirlwind of 'I hate you', 'I love you', 'I hate you' for no true apparent reason. Christine Feehan should stick to novels and if this was anyones first "manga" please go find a real one, a Japanese one. Just because it is a small book with pictures does NOT make it a manga! |
