5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo!
Wonderful companion book and really is a must read for anyone who reads the series! Not dull like some other companion books that I've read. Witty and sacrastic at times but keeps true to how the series is. Gives you background on every person that has been named in the Dark Series, Hunters (Were-, Dark-, and Dream-) along with all the gods. Pretty much everything you...

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new
I was really looking forward to this book but it is lightweight material. No new information or writer's insight in the world building. I expected more depth since the series is up to seventeen books. There should have been more explanations of whys and wherefores. I enjoy the series immensely but this companion book did not add anything. Not worth the time or money...

4.0 out of 5 stars for fans of the Dark Hunter mythos, November 13, 2007
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
In the five years since Sherrilyn Kenyon first introduced readers to the Dark Hunter saga, the mythos has expanded into an extremely complex universe. This companion tome serves as a resource for fans of the series. Besides the obvious bibliography with a brief description of the plots, the book offers a deep look at the various races and their history and customs that occupy the Kenyon world. By species classification, every character to appear in any of the books (I take the words of the author as to that) is included. There are also sidebar sections on Greek and New Orleans cultures and though connected especially the latter to the Kenyon mythos seems out of place (this reviewer skimmed those two chapters). Interviews with the "Author-Goddess (if you don't know who that is - you need to pass on this book), Acheron and Simi are entertaining and insightful especially Acheron. Finally there are the outtakes that never made it into a final book and a new short story. In sum this is winner for readers who relish the complete Dark Hunter mythology (eleven novels, eight short stories and six official websites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Companion Book, February 18, 2008

I love the dark hunter series. This is a must have for any fan. But beware there are some spoilers in it if you have not read all of the books including the ones that come out this year (2008). There was so much information in it that it really is a must have if only for reference but great just to read itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars This was fun!, December 20, 2007
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
Basically, a Dark Hunter encyclopedia with punch! It explains names, terms, situations but, it's saved from being pedantic because of the interchange from the authors, writing as though this is really a manual for the new Dark Hunter (the reader). I could have used less information on the 'armies' of the bad guys but, all in all, I'm glad I bought it and will store it on my DH shelf for anyone who may need an introduction to Ash and company.

5.0 out of 5 stars For hardcore Dark Hunter fans, that want it all, May 24, 2009
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
Want to know any and every detail about the world of Dark Hunters and all that inhabit? Not just the ones we know from stories but also ones that have come and gone and may have stories of their own in the future.

With humor and facts of life this catalog (1100 pages on my MS reader) of information was exciting to read and got me in the mood for my re-read of the entire series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dark Hunter Companion, August 25, 2008
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
I have been enthralled with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters, but did not totally understand what they were all about. This companion was wonderful fun, well written, and explained almost everything about them, their history, and their lives. I will continue to use it as I work my way through the series as there are details relating to most of the characters in the books. I especially love the references to other Hunters, Gods, and Goddesses which hopefully (please Sherrilyn) will result in future books. This is a must for die hard fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars As captivating as the author herself, June 14, 2008
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
Meeting Sherrilyn Kenyon was a delight. She was all smiles and bubbly, even for us brave few who waited four hours to have our books signed. This book is a wonderful reflection of her creativity, her passion, and her sense of humor. Finally, a reference book about the Dark Hunters! lol I plan to use the map in the book to visit the New Orleans locations she has pointed out in many of her books. Even if you don't want a reference book or an interview from Simi (okay, who DOESN'T want that?!), the pictures were worth the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, February 16, 2008
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
Good Book, lots of info. I'm new to the dark-hunter world so i was glad to see it. Just be careful if you don't want to ruin the end of a book don't find your characters till after you finish. But a very informative book overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark-Hunters RULE!!!, December 17, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Dark-Hunter Companion (Paperback)
If you are a Sherrilyn Kenyon and a Dark-Hunter fan, this book is a must. It is the reference book to understanding the whole series. It not only covers the past but also hints at what is coming. Kenyon does a wonderful job with the "what just jumped out of the closet" suspense with a big dose of humor thrown in. She ties all of her Hunter books together very well. The Hunter books include the Dark-Hunters, the Were-Hunters, and the Dream-Hunters. They are all interwoven. Thanks to Sherrilyn and Alethea Kontis who co-writes this book.

This is an excellent product for any fans of the Dark-Hunter series of books by Sherrilyn Kenyon. The Dark-Hunter series of books stand alone fine on their own merits, but this just helps you keep track of who's who a little easier besides providing entertaining tidbits to enhance your appreciation on the whole.
The book did seem to be missing a few people that I personally had some questions about but I'm hoping to be enlightened with perhaps a Dark-Hunter Companion Volume 2 or some other form of supplement. I don't know if Ms. Kenyon is finished with the highly enjoyable series, (I hope not), but in my opinion there is a lot more to be said.
I heartily endorse the purchase of this book.
