I've read a couple of reviews and found that they have compared Hong Kong company Hot Toys quality to this action figure. In comparison, Hot Toys outshines, outblasts, and uncomparably outdoes DC Direct's The Dark Knight 12" Batman. Even at the price of $65.00 (I got mine back in 2008) this "toy" is just that. The paint job is shotty. My batman's knuckles had been rubbing against the side of the inner carboard insert so the paint came off. The toy is also stiff and because DC Direct decided to go with their generic body (which they use in all their DC Direct 12 inch action figures in this line) the figure's shoulder's look huge compared to his head/cowl. In comparison to Hot Toys Bats, it's body does not hang naturally. It's stiff, like a toy action figure. This is where Hot Toys shines. Their articulated bodies have more points of articulation and let's the body rest like an actual person's. The materials and sculpting, all the way from head to toe, are spot on to the movie, or at least much more accurate than you'll find from any other 1/6th action figure manufacturing company. On price. Yes. DC Direct's Batman beats Hot Toys hands down, but this is where the divide of boys and men comes in. My Hot Toys Bats came in at around $150.00 with shipping. Twice the price. But IMO, you get what you pay for. To conclude, DC Direct's Batman is a toy. This is not a collector's item or at least not a true collector's item. But like anything, who knows what will sky-rocket in value years to come. Would I pay more than 80 bucks for this item? Definitely not. As I write this, Hot Toys continues to outdue itself. It may come to be that Hot Toys action figures value may plumet due to it's high cost of it's products. Again, I'm not an expert on the value of toys but if you want total accuracy from Sci-Fi movie figures, buy from the best.

Ok - the title of my review may put some people off but allow me to explain. I really like this figure....it is my first 1/6th scale collectible and I was very excited to purchase it and have someone from the US bring it for me. Here is what I like about it:1. It looks very cool. 2. The details are quite authentic, including the likeness to Christian Bale. My wife disagrees but I think otherwise. 3. The figure appears to be quite durable and I don't think I will be damaging it in anyway anytime soon. 4. The cape is pose-able (has wires running on the sides). 5. A certificate of authenticity is included, which I felt was a nice touch. Can be framed, its on a nice parchment type thick paper. Here are the bad points: 1. I don't like the velvety cape! Some other nice, thick material would have suited this caped crusader better.....Batman in velvet? Is he going to the Annual Gotham Ball or something? 2. I was under the impression that this figure was made by Hot Toys. Please note that I am not discrediting the shipper in anyway since there is no place where they claim that on the product page. The real issue is that DC Direct is now shipping the Hot Toys version, but were earlier on shipping their own version (the one I got!). I am not really sure what the articulation differences are, but the HT version comes with an extra head (Bruce Wayne without the Bat mask), 3 pairs of hands (I may be wrong!) and an activated mine. I have read raving reviews of the HT figure so I am not sure what exactly I may be missing in this one (except for the items mentioned above). 3. The figure may be heavily articulated (HT or otherwise) but the Batsuit's nature prevents the possibility of any real poses. Bend an arm here, flex the knees a bit....and that's about it. 4. There is a "pneumatic wrangler" included....call me ignorant but for the life of me I cannot recall how and when Batman used it. There is no documentation included with the figure to explain what goes where. I guess we are all supposed to use our own heads for that. 5. The "grappling launcher" looks very nice, but the only pair of hands that are NOT closed fists cannot "hold" the gun....I tried many times to close the fingers around the gun shaft but the fingers are not very articulate. The only other pair of hands are closed fists. So overall, not bad. Just some points to take home: 1. This figure NOT made by Hot Toys, so only the one head (Batman mask on) and only one pair of extra hands (closed fists) plus no mine. 2. Velvet cape - not very nice. 3. Not very articulate. You may want to read a review (with photos) of the DC Direct version of The Dark Knight figure (this one) at the following link: http://www.superherotimes.com/newsarchive/003511.php Or you may want to check out the HOT Toys version review at this link: http://www.superherotimes.com/newsarchive/004297.php As for the shipment: I received the package without any damage and on time. 100 points for all that.

I have collected probably hundreds of high end 1/6 scale figures. There are lots of great companies selling these (expensive) adult collector scale figures based on many themes (military, science fiction, etc). This batman figure has to be one of the best. I rarely buy two of anything since I don't do the buy/sell gig, but I bought two just for my own collection. Of course, these are not toys at all. So play value should not be a factor. Don't buy your kid a hundred dollar figure unless he plans on starting a collection. If he's going to whack it around like one legged GI Joe, you may want to consider more durable toys that are meant for true play. But as a fine a accurate replica, this is first rate. A very nice surprise. You won't confuse this with a toy! A great adult collectible for your desk. Joseph M. Vottis

After I bought a large Batmobile for my 5 year old grandson, he wanted a Batman figure that would fit into the car, that would have bendable joints to enable a sitting position. This figure has lots of moveable joints and although it sits awkwardly in the car, my grandson is happy with it. The figure does not look as if it will stand up to rough play, but it does come with several accessories, such as a gun, batarangs, and an extra pair of bendable hands. All-in-all, I'm happy with the purchase. *Note: I would suggest other sellers of similar toys to state which points of articulation (movable joints)the toy has.

As I've stated: "This is a great "Batman;" however, this Batman does not do Christian Bale's Batman justice. If you were looking for the Batman that looks exactly like Christian Bale's Batman, then make sure it is manufactured and created by Hot Toys Inc. I knew that I was not getting the one that Amazon is PRE-SELLING on here (it describes it as the Sonar Lighting Batman), but I wanted this one b/c DC Direct has stopped selling and making this version all-together, so if you get one, don't get mad...just keep it sealed and stow it away for later. I'm no appraiser by far, but if a product is no longer in production, then it may lead to a treasure later on. Again I'm just speculating...not facts.I did order the Hot Toys version of the Dark Knight (Sonar Lighted [i.e. like Albert Wesker Midnight Version])Batman from another site (Amazon doesn't allow links to other sites, so will comply and not state where), but it cost waaay more then what Amazon wants for it; however, it seems like it was totally worth it. I'll open the one that's on it's way from that Hot Toy's Vendor, and keep this one sealed and un-opened. Who knows, maybe I can sell this for twice what I paid down the line (that's if it's value increases). All-in-all this Batman is still great despite the average rate I gave it, and negatives that were given by others. I will say that the accessories looked very cheap (not Hot Toys standard at all). I still think anyone collecting (yes collecting...this is not a toy for grubby-pawed children [would hate to see the destructiveness a child would reek on one of these SMH]...get that child the 7-inched version please lol) should pick one of these version up and again...STOW IT!

If this figure was less expensive, it would have been slightly more tolerable. But with the price tag, I expected much much more. The figure can barely move, none of the accessiories fit any of his hands and worst of all it's so delicate that it broke the day I got it. I bought it and will keep it simply because it goes with my 1:6 Joker figure (which I bought first) but If I were to have bought this figure before The Joker, I probably would not have bought The Joker at all, due to my bad experiences with this figure.

Action figures come a long way. This one is almost life-like, down to every detail like pupils, lips and fingers. This is Batman as in the movie, The Dark Knight, and he is wearing a lighter suit with just protective pads as in the movie. It may not be to everyone's liking because given the suit is made of many pads, it looks very intricate and somewhat ugly and unclean as when the suit is one-piece. The cape is velvety and you can pretty much mold him in any position which is quite astonishing given he doesn't have any hideous-looking swivel screw joints. This looks almost as good as the statue and if you're a collector, you will know that is a compliment. It comes with the hydraulic claw you see at the beginning of movie, grappling gun, batarangs, cellphone (sonar), and extra set of hands. If you want a great piece of memorabilia from the hit movie, this is the item to get. Great and highly detailed for display, yet fun to play with!

This figure is pretty awesome. It is way better detailed than the one that came out for Batman Begins i.e. it actually looks like Christian Bale/Batman. The Suit is very nicely done looking very movie accurate with the armor rubber plates over a mesh kind of cloth underneath very similar to the movie unlike the Hot Toys version where the suit is all one piece of rubber material. The cape is poseable and has the "velvet" kinda of material for the outside and expands pretty wide just like if he were gliding in the movie. Poseblility of the figure its self is ok. That's probably the only place it falls short but other than that i like this figure better than the Hot Toys one, mainly because it costs way less. 5star figure!
