A great CD from a new jazz master, January 13, 2005

Eric Crystal arrived on the San Francisco music scene as somewhat of a prodigy, and "Dark Matter" is one of his best creations. He has since become one of the main players in the Bay Area, and this CD captures his greatest contributions -- his knack for nuance, his subtle yet passionate voicings, and his courage to redefine the direction of jazz. Track 2: Remember P.N. is pure genius. The SF Weekly comments on "his powerful, imaginative soloing and an ability to take his music 'outside' without losing coherence, perspective, or humor. Crystal's 1998 CD of originals, Dark Matter, presents a set of intricately textured compositions and a strong improvisational vision." We agree. Check it out.
