This book reveals the innermost thoughts of a paramedic as he goes about his daily life. It is an interesting concept and reveals the main character's dark side as he commences on his own psychological journey to find himself. I found this book fascinating because not only did I get a tour through some of the seedier aspects of being a paramedic, but I also found myself immersed in Tryke's thoughts. I began to explore questions about morality and wondered if evil people deserve a different kind of "justice."

I found "Dark of the Mind" a compelling yet simultaneously entertaining read. Through the main character, Tryke Harper, we gain a vivid understanding of exactly what paramedics contend with whether they are on or off the clock. C.S. McMillian does an excellent job of developing Tryke as a character, showing him as an intense, driven and often cynical soul who still manages to retain some humanity even in light of numerous spirit-crushing events around him. The ending sets the stage nicely for the second installment, which this reader can’t wait to pick up.

Riveting! A great read, with a "dexter" like character responding to your "911" calls. Very well written; never a dull moment, a view into the dark psyche. Looking forward to read the next one

Excellent story plot, as well as progression. The authenticity of the medical background of the author is evident in his clear portrayal of the events which follow an ambulance call.
