I love the fact that Barry Maitland expects his readers to be intelligent and perceptive. Each story is a maze of information with no certain outcome at the beginning of the book only possibilties. Each story threads its own particular plot and they are all astonishingly different though Kolla and Brock are once again the central characters. I particularly liked Dark Mirror because it dealt with the Pre-Raphelites who I knew very little about. When I finished this story I felt that I had not only been hugely entertained but also educated. This was a very satisfying read.
