More About the Author

I was fortunate to enjoy an exotic childhood growing up overseas. Entertainment came in the form of reading, riding on elephants in Laos, Sunday visits to museums in Paris, and tracking tigers in northern Thailand. With the world my home, I excelled in language, music, and, above all, story-telling. Language is my thing, which is why I've taught Spanish, ESL, and linguistic at various insitutions, including the College of William and Mary, my alma mater. Because I'm the wife of a retired Navy veteran, writing military romantic suspense suits me best. I live with my husband and many children near Virginia Beach, where I'm inspired by real-life stories of Navy SEALs' sacrifices and their struggles to combat terrorism.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel builds on a fantastic story, September 12, 2005
By
This review is from: In the Dark (Navy SEALs, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Introduced near the end of "Forget Me Not," Hannah Geary has evidence that could clear Gabe "Jaguar" Renault of murder in connection with illegal arms sales by a crooked colleague, Admiral Lovitt, who has enough clout to set Gabe up. But Hannah disappears, and two of Gabe's SEAL team are called in to rescue her from a Cuban general's compound. Luther Lindstrom and "Westy" McCaffrey arrive just in time - Hannah has killed the general when he tries to assault her, and they hastily pull her out. Sure that her life is in danger, Luther helps her change her appearance and has her stay with him. Westy finds it humorous that Hannah has no idea who Luther is. Most women flock to him because of his past as a Dallas Cowboy.

Just getting over a heartbreaking engagement, where he discovered that his fiance was more interesting in his money and servicing the rest of the base, Luther is looking for a good girl who wants to settle down, wait for him to return from his missions, and have his babies. Hannah on the other hand is an alpha female and can [.......] as good as a SEAL. Her desire is to get a position as a CIA agent and live a life of a covert operative. As the two get closer, they act on their attraction, and try to outrun the bad guys. Not knowing where they can turn or who they can trust, while determining if the ultimate goal they have always proclaimed that they want is indeed what they want.

Westy is a breath of fresh air in this one - his reactions and trying to control his humor at Luther's expense is priceless. They make a great team, and soon Westy gets his own story in the follow up, "Time to Run" due in February 2006. This is a great stand alone story, but it really helps to have the background by reading "Forget Me Not" first. Both are first rate stories, and manage to build on each other, making this a must-read series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Melton Always Delivers!!!!, June 5, 2005
This review is from: In the Dark (Navy SEALs, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Melton has delivered yet again another fast paced read with one incredible hero, and one fiesty heroine. The end result...a read that will absorb the reader until the final page.

We met Lt. Luther Lindstrom and Hannah in the story "Forget Me Not." Now they have their very own emotional read. Luther is a SEAL and he and "Westy" have been selected to go and rescue Hannah Geary from the prison in which she's been put by "the individual." Luther thinks it will be an easy extraction...and to a certian degree he's right. What he's not counting on are his feeling for the sassy Hannah. He has been burned recently by love and he is not interested in any way shape or form for a woman who's not interested in the same things he is. Home, family, and children. Hannah wants her career in the CIA and he won't stand in the way of that. But will he be able to let her walk away from him?

Hannah Geary is a tough and sassy lady. She has dreams of finally working overseas as her father had playing a role in keeping America safe. She is rescued by Luther and Westy and she feels instantly safe with Luther. He makes her feel things she'd rather not feel and question whether or not she can live without her very own SEAL. Together they work to save Gabe (Forget Me Not) while trying to stay one step ahead of a killer. Will Hannah be able to balance everything she's dealing with without loosing the one thing she never realized she wanted?

Hannah and Luther were wonderful characters. Their story made me sigh and cry! Ms. Melton creates wonderful hero's that the reader can't help but care for. This was a very emotional read and one that I highly recommend. I can't wait for her next release in this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ, July 26, 2005
This review is from: In the Dark (Navy SEALs, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my first book by this author. I loved it. I constantly search for new authors and generally buy books because of the author. I will certainly be on the lookout for more of her books.

Hannah Geary is an alpha female, if there is such a thing. This is a strong determined woman. When her partner is murdered she picks up where he leaves off. Unfortunately, that puts her in a fortress prison in Cuba. Captured and confined she can't understand why she hasn't been killed. But she is looking for any way to escape.

Luther Lindstrom is a Navy SEAL who needs the testimony of Hannah to save his CO., Jaguar. Her partner had the goods on the Officer who has framed Jaguar. Luther has just broken his engagement because he found out his fiance was unfaithful. He really doesn't have much faith in women. But he has never met one like Hannah.

He and 2 friends are given a chance to save Hannah and recover the evidence. The FBI knows where she is, they also know Jaguar is innocent, however, they are looking to hook bigger fish so they can do nothing. Luther and Westy get to the compound to save Hannah just as she manages to escape. Running into them saves her some trouble and she agrees to help prove Jaguar's innocence. She has a copy of the evidence. At least she had a copy.

The FBI has warned them not to trust anyone. They find that the copy in her car is missing. Togather they follow in the footsteps of her partner and find much more trouble than they expect.

This is a fast paced, very intelligent plot, I loved it and the romance was hot. I liked the fact Hannah could be hard when she had to and soft when she wanted to. Very good read.
