Outstanding new release from an artist with much promise.,

Dark Night by James Armstrong is an inspiring body of work by a man who has truly experienced life's inequities. An extremely talented songwriter, dynamic vocalist and a determined guitar player, James is in the process of an amazing return to the blues scene with this new release. Dark Night runs the musicial gamut, from the haunting title cut to Smokey Robinson-ish soul and even a little country blues twang. My favorite cut so far (today)? James' playful cover of Slender Man Blues-a humorous tune that will have women from coast to coast grinning from ear to ear. My advise-get this one and if you don't already have it- pick up Sleeping with a Stranger, too. Start your James Armstrong collection early and look forward to more good things from this man in the future.

Just bought this CD --- and am really enjoying it. Some of it may be a bit dark (hell, it's the blues, baby) but a lot of it is downright funny --- "Here for the music" and "Bank of Love" contain some very humorous lyrics. Great heartfelt blues from a man who has survived a lot and has talent to burn.
