5.0 out of 5 stars Great acting and interesting story on a low budget, October 31, 2006
This review is from: Dark Reality (DVD)
I was skeptical about this movie when I first heard about it, but I wanted to watch something scary, and decided to rent it from Blockbuster. The first thing you notice is that you can tell it was shot on a low budget... ie, on video. I must admit though that this didn't matter when I got into the story. The movie is very terrifying on many levels. The camera work is great, and the actors are also very good. Be warned though, this has lots of violence and nudity in it.

1.0 out of 5 stars No matter how bad things seem, they could be worse..., August 3, 2007
This review is from: Dark Reality (DVD)
Oh lordie, this was one bad movie. I mean what the heck was this thing about? I know what happened in the film, but why? Who? How? Does anybody care? One problem with doing a film about a maniac I guess is that we really don't know what the maniac is thinking so therefore if we are confused, it's because we're dealing with a confused mind. In this case, the confused mind belongs to the director. I mean, why would a nut grab a girl off the street, drug her and take her clothes only to leave a sweat suit or tee shirt and sweat pants or something like that for her to put on when she wakes up? Why not just leave her dressed or leave her undressed or take her clothes and redress her as you want? Every girl was apparently raped or molested or something prior to being place in the chamber yet every one had one article of clothing left or returned or untouched. Yes, the clothing situation kept me wondering. My firsthand experience with psychopaths is kind of limited so I can't say for sure what the reasoning was here, but it bothered me. It also bothered me that the whole film was so dark it seemed to be shot in black and white except for the very beginning and the symbolic ending that was just stupid. After the movie, I watched the making of video on the DVD which explained absolutely nothing but was probably more entertaining than the movie. Finally, who suffered more, the girls in the room hopelessly at the mercy of some guy who is unknown or me who watched this entire mess? This is one of the "Must Pass On" films. It has nothing to recommend it. If you are tempted to rent this one, rent instead 'Saw' and 'Kiss the Girls' and make it a double feature. You get the same shock, better acting and a plot. If you are tempted to buy this one...Oh man, you need help.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lame low budget movie !, April 24, 2007
This review is from: Dark Reality (DVD)
I bought this one in the hope of seeing a good suspense thriller with certain horror elements in it. Instead I got a lame low budget film, that started off a bit interesting but soon lost all appeal for me. The main reason for this is that before the main character, a woman, embarks on her trip to England she is captured at night by an assailant, who then ties her to a wall in an unknown place. What might at this point still sound good, is simply from the capture scenes onward boring and tedious to watch. After this the whole movie is set in a dungeon where the abductor preys on his new victim, which is really not in the least exciting to watch and one just wants to desperately press that stop botton on the DVD player.

Hence, this DVD was neither a thriller nor a real horror movie, but instead something terribly boring.

P.S. Avoid this one virtually at all cost.
