Enthroned's second full length opus, 'Dark Requiemsúand Unsilent Massacre'. This release harkens back to the down right heaviness of their EP, but with the beautiful orchestration that was displayed on "The Slaughter Of Innocence, A Requiem for The Mighty". The album surely is a masterpiece. It was recorded between February 16th and March 3rd 1998 at the Windings, North Wales. Blackend.

This was my first Hecate Enthroned album and one of my first black metal albums. It has survived all the trading and selling cds back to the store over the years. That is an accomplishment not held by many cds.

Knowing very little about black metal at the time and not having internet access to explore it, I relied on FYE's in store scan and listen system. I will never forget hearing the intro In Nomine Satanus and instantly picturing myself entering the dark depths of hell. Then feeling as though I was being rushed by a multitude of screaming demons as The Pagan Swords of Legend kicked in. Needless to say, I bought the album and could not get home fast enough to listen to it. When I did I was totally blown away. The entire album was dark and hellish. I had never heard anything like it.

Now, I have had the enjoyment of discovering many many black metal bands. Some bad, some good, and some great. Hecate Enthroned remains near the top of my list of great and truly unique black metal bands because I have yet to find a band like them. While I can not decide which of their albums is the best, I can say without a doubt Dark Requiems is a gem. Not only in the Hecate Enthroned discography, but for black metal in general.

Hecate Enthroned,lead Bassist for Cradle of Filth the early days.

This band is truely epic,and with this album,brings forth a new era of intense,but soothing Black Metal.
Dark Requiems and Unsilent Massacure is possibly one of the best written and recorded album by HE.

The screams of the old bassist,makes you want to jump into a pit of screaming fans,or just makes you want to sit back,and relax,thinking of ungodly acts.

5/5 for me.
