5.0 out of 5 stars A Creepy Book!
If you like being spooked by books, this is the book to read. I have to put the book down to shake the darkness. The depth of the stories grows as each one is completed. A must read for those who like spine-chilling stories.

Within this book, the plots range from the surreal to the terrifyingly mundane. To name just a few stories, there was the fatally enticing mummy, vengeful goddess, a vain has-been actress and a football team soul-bound to witchy prostitutes. Some were far-fetched, like the possessed elevator and most were boringly laid out, such as the egotistical sci-fi writer. The one...

5.0 out of 5 stars very dark and erotic, March 26, 2003
I thought this was a great book. I have read many erotic horror novels and found some to be very dry and unrealistic. This book has some stories that in some sick way could be very realistic which adds to the appeal of the book. I was very pleased with the content of the book. I personally highly recommend this book to everyone!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Erotic does not mean Sexually Arousing, March 1, 2007

If you can keep my title in mind, you'll be better prepared for the 14 stories in this collection. They are erotic in the sense that they deal with sex as the major means for plot and character development. Perhaps some people would get aroused by these stories but not I. I don't think any of the outcomes are positive but they are certainly dark and potentially scary. Happily there were no over-arching gender stereotypes, both men and women are victims and monsters, and it wasn't merely a collection of vampire, ghost or werewolf tales. Not for the faint of heart or stomach.

2.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, October 21, 2004
Within this book, the plots range from the surreal to the terrifyingly mundane. To name just a few stories, there was the fatally enticing mummy, vengeful goddess, a vain has-been actress and a football team soul-bound to witchy prostitutes. Some were far-fetched, like the possessed elevator and most were boringly laid out, such as the egotistical sci-fi writer. The one story that stands out is Good Vibrations by Ms. Thorne. Hilarious and gratifying, she gives her female readers a revenge story that will stick with them for years to come and pass on to future generations.

Since it is an anthology, to describe the pace would be difficult to judge because it changed with each story. The atmosphere overall was simple and direct; Control. Through out the book, you constantly feel a tug-of-war with your sense to never back down or submit. All of the characters in this book had a monotonous pattern; all the women were either victims or evil temptresses, while the men were vulgar or naive.

Also not one could produce even an inch of familiarity or empathy. They reminded me of all those projects I did in high school: pointless and thrown together at the last minute. With only a few pages for each author to showcase their talent, the style of writing is hard to critique. To dissect it would mean to probe all 14 stories and if you are anything like me, you like things to be short and sweet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not What the Title Promises, November 9, 2002
By A Customer
I purchased this book with the expectation of getting turned on and being scared at the same time. Neither of these things happened with this book. The stories stopped just short of being sexy or horrific. I did read the whole book to give it a fair shake, but it never went anywhere. I think anyone seeking horror or erotica stories would do better to buy each of the genres in separate books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bedtime Reading!, May 12, 2010
I have always been a horror fan, but it was not until reading the Hot Blood series that I really realized that horror and erotica could go together very well. Dark Seductions is definitely a book in that same exceptional genre. The stories are, for the most part, very well-written, with a "creep factor" more than just going for the "ick" or "gore". The sex scenes are written for plot and not just tacked in there to sell a story, and the stories themselves are short enough that you can read the whole book in one night or portion them out one "thrill" at a time before bed. all in all, very enjoyable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Made Me Chill All Over, Literally, June 26, 2005
By first glance, I didn't think this would be as great as I thought, but it left me with all kinds of "chills".
Superbly written, and I will definitely come back for more!
