5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Shadows 1991Revival-A Classic!
This 1991 mini-series is one of the best I've ever seen. I can remember watching a few episodes on NBC almost 10 years ago, and I just had to see it all again...The blend of drama, romance and gothic horror is successfully established. Ben Cross stars as 200 yr. old vampire Barnabas Collins, who is accidentally unchained and released from his coffin. Following a series of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous price, great item.
I agree with everyone here in that the Dark Shadows revival series aired on NBC in the early 90s was one of the best re-makes ever made. It far eclipses the original. However, the price for ONE EPISODE on an outdated vhs tape? Are these people insane? These days nobody pays HALF that price for a vhs tape of a complete full-length feature film. It's pretty rare to pay...

Following a series of deadly attacks in the town of Collinsport, he introduces himself to the wealthy Collins family as a distant cousin from England, and immediately falls for new governess Victoria Winters (played by Joanna Going). If you remember this series, you'll definitely think about watching it all again.

However, the price for ONE EPISODE on an outdated vhs tape? Are these people insane? These days nobody pays HALF that price for a vhs tape of a complete full-length feature film. It's pretty rare to pay this much even for a DVD with "special features" on it. VHS is simply not a viable medium anymore and the price Amazon's quoting is four times what a single episode is worth.

5.0 out of 5 stars This deserves more than 5 stars!, December 16, 1999
This review is from: Dark Shadows 1991 Episode 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Hello Dark Shadows fans. If you are a fan of vampires, dark gothic romance, ghosts, or all of the above, buy this video now! I first discovered the world of Dark Shadows through this great 1991 NBC mini-series and I actually did tape it, but someone evil whose name shall not be mentioned here, taped over my copies!

This series is so fun and exciting I can't say enough good about it. If you love the horror/vampire/romance genre, you will love this. One caveat though, if you were a die-hard purist fan of the old 60s-70s soap Dark Shadows you might not like this re-vamped :) version.

5.0 out of 5 stars DS fan since 1967, January 7, 2000

I am an old DS fan and I found the revival series to be outstanding (actors, costumes, set, plot, etc.). I was so upset when the revival series was cancelled. Because I missed taping a couple of the shows when it was first broadcast and I later accidently taped over the cliffhanger, I have spent over $200 buying the complete series. The money was well spent! Dan Curtis is talking about another revival and I want Ben Cross to play Barnabas. Amazon offers these videos at a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS SHOW, January 13, 2003

I never was very interested in the daytime soap opera Dark Shadows of the 60's, with Johnathan Frid as Barnabas; However when they aired the new mini-series in 1991, I was ecstatic, I was hooked right away. The atmosphere, the charactors, the set (Greystone mansion), all of it was very intriguing. I was appalled to hear that the show was to be discontinued after 12 episodes. I wrote to NBC several times, knowing all and well that my words were just a waste, one person or even 100 couldn't change the minds of the production. Well, anyways, I'm glad to see that I can purchase the series of tapes and watch them all over again :) Thanks Amazon.com:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello Dark Shadow fans out there...., March 11, 2000

I thought this was an excellent movie. NBC, i think brought dark shadows back to life by making it into a tv mini-series. I loved it so much, that now i'm going to buy the whole series. Ben Cross did an excellent job of playing Barnabus, as did Joann Going on her part. If you were a fan of the old dark shadows, as my mom is, my advice for you is to buy this. Don't count on it being in any stores either - already tried that, and most places don't carry this series anymore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why is this not available on DVD ???, May 13, 2005
This review is from: Dark Shadows 1991 Episode 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is one series I have never forgotten. To think I could own it but 12 VHS tapes in this day and age?? You must be joking! Someone out there needs to get on the ball and release this series on DVD. I would be the first in line to purchase, all the way from Downunder! The story was brilliant, the cast magnificent. Please do something about a DVD version! It is worthy of it. As such a DVD version would rate 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Question?, July 2, 2005
This review is from: Dark Shadows 1991 Episode 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Quick question... I was only about 7 when Dark Shadows first aired, and remember watching a show about vampires on the weekends with my babysitter(Friday & Saturday nights mostly). Was this Dark Shadows that I was watching? I have been trying recently to find out the title and everything is pointing to Dark Shadows, but I am still not 100% sure. Can anyone help?
