A hodge-podge, but great nonetheless, July 1, 2004
This review is from: Dark Shadows in the Afternoon (Paperback)
This excellent book is about the classic 1966-71 American television show, Dark Shadows, and the 1991 revival show of the same name. The first chapter is a wonderful narration of the storyline of the original show, bringing back to life the entire show. The second chapter is about Jonathan Frid, the actor who played Barnabas Collins in the original show, while the third chapter is a transcript of the 1991 NBC press tour for the new Dark Shadows program. The fourth chapter recounts all of the problems that dogged the 1991 revival, and the fifth chapter explains all of the differences between the two shows.
As the above description should suggest, this book is something of a hodge-podge of items without an overarching theme - outside of the two shows. But, that said, the individual articles/chapters are truly excellent, and form a great resource for the Dark Shadows fan. I must say, I really enjoyed the first chapter's retelling of the storyline of the original show; such a wonderful walk down memory lane! Overall, I am quite glad I got this book, and highly recommend it to all Dark Shadows fans!
