This review is from: Dark Shadows: Behind the Scenes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
As a fan a "Dark Shadows" since it's first transmission on British Television in 1996, I have always wanted to know more. This video provides a superb oppurtunity. Interviews with almost all the stars of the show are guarenteed to enthrall anyone with an interest in this wonderful show. Jonathon Frid (Barnabus Collins) explains his translation of the character, as enthralling in real life as when he is acting, Nancy Barret (Carolyn Stoddard) explains the audition process which won her the role, Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans) enthuses about the whole business, the much missed Louis Edmonds (Roger Collins) explains the process of Daytime television soap and John Karlen (Willie Loomis) enquires exactly what made the show work. And that really is the tip of the iceberg! There are many other interviews, including the shows creator Dan Curtis and director Lela Swift and even some footage dating back to 1970 of an interview with the sublime Joan Bennet (Elizabeth Collins Stoddard). Add to this some behind the scenes 8mm movie footage of the stars signing autographs outside the ABC TV studio in which they laboured and the trailers for both "House of Dark Shadows" and "Night of Dark Shadows", as well as some very well chosen clips which remind you just how good "Dark Shadows" could be, and you are left with an absolutely fascintating and absorbing video. If you've ever watched the show and marvelled at how it managed to get on the air, this video will answer the majority of your questions. If you are a fan of "Dark Shadows" you simply must own a copy of this tape!
