5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Shadows Revival 1991.., March 11, 2000

I thought this was an excellent movie. CBS, i think brought dark shadows back to life by making it into a tv mini-series. I loved it so much, that now i'm going to buy the whole series. Ben Cross did an excellent job of playing Barnabus, as did Joann Going on her part. If you were a fan of the old dark shadows, as my mom is, my advice for you is to buy this. Don't count on it being in any stores either - already tried that, and most places don't carry this series anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jealousy and Temptation Kicks In, December 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Shadows: Episode 5 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In this episode, a jealous Dr. Julia Hoffman learns of Barnabas' relationship with Collinwood governess Victoria Winters, and decides she will no longer cure his vampirism. Barnabas loses control...

Ben Cross does a fabulous job of portraying the 200-year old tormented vampire, Barnabas Collins. Barnabas intensifies his relationship with Victoria Winters (who resembles his long-lost love from the 18th century), and Dr. Hoffman decides to no longer help him become human.

This episode makes for a great climax to Barnabas' desire to be freed of his curse. He's not fully human, not completely cured. You also get to see both sides of his character: the kind-hearted, old-fashioned gentleman...and the stern, evil vampire he is by no choice of his own. *****

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing Experience!, April 14, 2000
By
"partysteps" (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dark Shadows: Episode 5 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The 1991 series of Dark Shadows that aired on NBC was a saving grace for me! As a 7 year old girl I stayed up late every Friday night and got lost in the world of Barnabas and Angelique and Josette. My mother grew up on the original show and I've seen many episodes of that as well, but in my opinion it doesn't hold a candle to the revival series. The actors in the 1991 series show such passion and soul in everything they do! Definitely see this series! Believe me, it's worth it! I own every episode on video!
