5.0 out of 5 stars First album I've purchased in years and well worth it.
This is one of Joey's best, if not the best album he has ever done. If you are not a fan of Fat Joe you will be after listening to this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only twelve tracks on my CD !!!!! where's da bonus?
The album is actually pretty good. Not a big fan of Fat Joe. But my gripe is that the album says 13 tracks (12 tracks plus a bonus) but only 12 show up on my laptop. did I receive a dud from amazon?

It's only been about 10 months since his last (and his worst) solo, and thank God he didn't wait too long. Of his 10 albums, this is probably his 2nd best one (I don't have his debut solo from 1993). To his catalog over the last 17 years, he has 3 I'd give 4.5 stars, 1 I'd say is borderline 4/4.5 stars, 3 I'd give 4 stars, and one is border 3/3.5 stars. This one is his strongest of his last 3 albums, 5 years and goes back to being hard/street oriented and not as much Pop/radi friendly songs as his last 3 albums. Of the 13 songs on here, 2 are classics, 2 are ok, the other 8 are good or real good songs. Guests are on 8 of the 13, rapping on 3 and doing the hook on 5 songs. Production is nice as well. Cool & Dre, Infamous, Scoop Deville, and Raw Uncut all do 2 songs, Scram Jones, Just Blaze, DJ Premier, Street Runner and Dope Boyz all do 1. A nice album to have and his best album in quite some time.

#1 - 9 (nice beat)
#2 - 8.5 (nice old school beat)
#3 - 9 (tight beat and storyline about the growth of crack)
#4 - 9 (f/ Clipse & Cam'ron -- good beat)
#5 - 8.5
#6 - 9 (f/ Young Jeezy -- nice beat)
#7 - 7 (f/ Trey Songz)
#8 - 7 (f/ Rico Love)
#9 - 10 (CLASSIC -- f/ R. Kelly -- great beat)
#10 - 10 (CLASSIC -- f/ TA & Too $hort -- great beat)
#11 - 8.5 (f/ Lil Wayne, who thankfully only does the hook)(
#12 - 9 (nice beat)
#13 - 8 (f/ Busta Rhymes on the hook)

4.0 out of 5 stars The REAL Hiphop side...., August 8, 2010
By
This review is from: Dark Side (Audio CD)
This may well be one of Crack's best album if not the best, back to his hardcore roots, or might i say, real hiphop roots since this is what rap music is actually supposed to sound like, the lyricism is undeniable, Joe, where were these rhymes all this while? i know, trying to make money in this highly diluted rap music community, i dont blame you though, but a good artist should figure out a way of making money without producing mediocre music at the same time. The right people are featured including highly underrated Busta rhymes, the beats are anything but below average, well done and suitable for the tracks, but it didnt have to be hardcore completey though, with regards to the selling potential; most of the tracks are battle geared, but more storytelling and insightful tracks would've made it a complete album (like Jay's american gangster) but i still appreciate the release, this is the album for people like me. If you've been looking for real music, you'll be making a mistake by missing this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall how can you not be pleased with this album!!, August 7, 2010

After listening and listening to this album over and over again then breaking each song down by beats, lyrics, and then creativity I would have to put this album towards to the top of Fat Joes list of best albums to this date.I won't go as far to say its the best to date by Fat Joe but it certainly is high up on the list. The problem with this album is that unless you really take the time to listen to everything as a whole your not going to understand why I say this is up there towards the top of his list.I have seen in various hip hop websites where 50 cent is clowning the album but to be quite honest Fat Joe deserves an applause and alot of credit for this album. It may not reflect in the sales and not all the time will it show in sales but for any true fans of Fat Joe that are out there I highly recommend this album.

I have to say the crack man def gave us what we wanted to hear. From listening to the first song you kind of get the sense that this dude is really going to bring it on this album. By the time I was done listening I realized that this is a classic. I started to understand what he meant by the dark side. Heartless and cold in each verse. The kind of music that we loved b4 we all turned to listening to that garbage that's out right now. This album is far from soft. Well worth it. I figured I should support it since he's one of the last big names still giving it to us like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joey Crack is Back! The album he always wanted to Make., July 30, 2010
This review is from: Dark Side (Audio CD)
Im listening to this Album right now, the last Fat Joe Album I bought was Me, Myself and I and that joint was HARD!! I was enrtertained 4 real. Ive always liked his efforts since, Don Cartegina. He tries his best on all his albums. Sometimes they come off the wrong way to people who want him to be Big Pun. He's Fat Joe! And some forget Joe has a Longevity in the Rap Game, he's still a Solid MC and Well Respected. He doesnt even mention this himself. He first showed his MC Skills as being part of the D.I.C Crew with the late Great BIG L, also since FLOW JOE. This Album is one that he has always talked about making. The most well known and still relevant rapper in the Bronx. Where he just does what he wants without any Pop Sounding, Bumble gum music like some so called "street" Artist. I would personally say this Album is Modern Street, the REAL way an album like that should sound. TOUGH BEATS, Hard Rhymes, Street Lyrics. Joey Crack is back, this is just Vol.1 can't wait for more. JOE, Slow Down ya Killin them!!
