Seriously, when I was a little kid in the early 90's, my favorite albums were my dad's records by the Who, the Beatles, and Boston. I couldn't have cared less about Raffi and his ilk. Why? Because while I might not have been grown-up enough to grasp the intricacies of Pete Townshend's lyrics, Tommy was a million times more fun to listen to than "Baby Beluga". Children's music just seemed like it was dumbing everything down for my sake. The musicians didn't seem to understand that while I was down with lyrics about counting and brushing my teeth, I also wanted the music to be interesting. And these kiddie singers used acoustic guitars almost exclusively. Why? When I was 5, I thought electric guitars were the coolest things since the Ninja Turtles. They seriously just didn't get it.

Rocknoceros gets it.

We picked this album up at the release party and put it in the van's CD player on the way home. That was three weeks ago, and the kids still won't let me take it out! We now have all the songs memorized, and even the two-year-old sings along. My six-year-old and four-year-old sons are really into all the space songs. Music-savvy parents will recognize various genre influences and appreciate the music and lyrics on a different level, so I actually don't mind listening to it day-in and day-out. I've even caught myself listening to it when the kids aren't in the car, or singing "Days of the Week" to myself without it driving me crazy. Definitely something the whole family can enjoy!

Both of my boys (ages 2 and 5) LOVE Rocknoceros! We have the great pleasure of seeing them in concert periodically, but the CDs are in the car or in their room constantly. We fight over tracks... the five-year-old likes Dear Abby. The two-year-old wants Blast Off and mom and dad can't get enough of The Metric System and Pluto. You -- and your kids -- will find yourself humming and singing along in no time. Rocknoceros is simply STELLAR!

Not only do my preschooler and toddler LOVE Rocknoceros, I listen to the CD when they're not in the car, too! The lyrics are very clever, catchy, and educational. The music is excellent - rock and reggae influences and even a great spiritual song! The metric system song helps people of all ages understand the complexities of our measurement system and is a catchy way to help teach various measurement equivalents. We listen to both Rocknoceros CDs at every opportunity - in the house and in the car. We are fortunate to live near where they perform weekly and thoroughly enjoy the performances. Not only is the music great, the band members are very personable and relate very well to children and parents. We would love to see Playhouse Disney and Radio Disney include Rocknoceros in their regular lineup. We couldn't recommend this cd or this group any more highly. Coach Cotton, Willie Bob, and Boogie Woogie Bennie - we love you and your music!! Anyone planning a trip to DC with young children should consider adding a Rocknoceros concert to their itinerary (see their website for details).

My nephews sing the brushing your teeth song all the time and we just laugh as we try to keep up! Whenever they hear counting of any kind, we always end up counting down from 10 and yelling "Blast Off!" These songs are really catchy for kids and fun for them to dance and run around to. As an adult I find myself singing them as well because I like the style of music and the songs are very well written for adults to enjoy. This is a must buy for toddlers and young children!

We love to see Rocknoceros live but since we can't see them every day we listen to their cd's in the car, on their web site, any place we can. By far they are the most popular band for parents with pre-schoolers. My 16-month old now even sings the chorus to "Wee Go Potty" and it is her very first song! I also recommend their first cd although it's not as polished.

WOW - what a great album. We need "Gravity" when our 2 year old listens to this CD because he can't stop jumping around and dancing. All the songs are fantastic and educational (even mom and dad learned something from Metric System). We can't wait for the next Rocknoceros album.
