Biography

Gregorian is a project conceived by German music producer Frank Peterson. Peterson worked previously with Enigma, the band who took Gregorian chant to worldwide prominence with their 1990 single "Sadeness Part 1".

Gregorian's debut album, 1991's Sadisfaction carried on Enigma's pop-orientated theme, mixing chants into the tracks, but it proved to be unsuccessful and the project would have to wait… Read more in Amazon's Gregorian Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Copy Protection, November 9, 2007
This review is from: The Dark Side: The Original (Audio CD)
This is a pretty good cd musically. This is the version with Rammstein's "Engel" on it, and I'd say it's the best song on the disk. There are quite a few other good songs too.

However, this cd does have copy protection on it, which means I am unable to copy it to my computer or iPod for personal use, which is quite frustrating because I bought it and want to listen to it on these devices. So instead I can only listen to it at home. So just to warn anyone who buys it, you probably won't be able to play it unless you have a regular cd player.

This exact item on this page is incorrectly labelled and the picture is wrong. It is the "Limited Edition with RAMMSTEIN's ENGEL."

There are several versions of the latest Gregorian album available; they are all listed below:

1. Gregorian, The Dark Side

2. Gregorian, The Dark Side - Limited Edition (with RAMMSTEIN's "ENGEL")

3. Gregorian, The Dark Side - Special Rock Edition

4. Gregorian, The Dark Side (Japanese Teichiku LP-style flipcase) RELEASED! (Titled "The Dark Side [IMPORT]" on Amazon.com)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sinisterly intriguing and wondeful., October 2, 2005
This review is from: Dark Side (Audio CD)
Gregorian - The Dark side is a wonderful masterpiece Not to say that i'm biased because of the fact that i have a couple of their CDs, but this album is in itself a well made one. Tracks like "Unbeliever" has that essential Verocity that made this compliation a pleasure to listen to.

Some tracks simply sounded out of place with the lyrics. But somehow, it still soudned good at the end.

"My immortal" sounded weird at first but as soon as the tune got its flow, the essence of it came through. However i felt that the chants could do less with the rock edge to it. Though it provides a different experience, it does prove a little distracting at times. Overall, a very good listening experience as with the other Gregorian Albums, a place worthy in my collection of favourtites. =)
