I buy a lot of CDs on Amazon and elsewhere, i am a serious music nerd but i can honestly say this is one of the best i've bought in years! I was originally interested in the jezabels after seeing the video for "mace spray" on a tv show here in Australia. Every track on this EP turned out to be great, there really isn't a single bad or even mediocre song here. I'd recommend anyone who loves quality music to buy this CD

Every track on this EP is great. The Jezabels incorporate sounds reminiscent of Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure and bridge the alternative music of the 80's and 90's into 2010 - highly recommmended.

My GOD all five of these songs have gotten stuck in my head and I can't get them out without listening to them over and over! This is what all music needs to be like!

What can I say. All three EPs are outstanding - and Hayley Mary's voice is just something...I am looking forward to their album in September (Prisoner). I saw them in a tiny club in Berlin - outstanding.

Dark Storm. Let it pour.,

The Jezabels have taken the post-rock alternating between beautiful quiet sections and huge crescendos, condensed it down to 3-5 minutes, and added vocals that are almost pop. Electric guitars, sometimes layered, keyboards, trap set, and a vocalist. No bass player, all the instrumentalists take turns on occasion filling that space. The guitar player has considerable chops and on this album he's really nailed it. The vocals are distinctive and the lyrics are competent, the ones I can understand anyway. The album titles are truth in advertising, on "She's So Hard" and "Dark Storm", the lyrics are definitely hard and dark, but with a touch of humor, the kind of lines where you say to yourself, "Did she really just say what I thought she said?"
The drummer is a gem, he's more like a whole drum section or drum circle than one guy. He's constantly keeping the sound fresh, pulling rhythms and sounds in from all over. And like the guitar playing, even when it gets complicated, he's still crisp, in time, and listening to the rest of the band. Five stars. I've been playing this stuff over and over since I downloaded it. May the Jezabels thrive.

Really? No One Else Has Reviewed This Yet?,

I'm really surprised this band hasn't blown up yet. I first heard them because the song "A Little Piece" was in a Red Bull BMX video someone showed me (don't let the connection to an extreme sports video affect your idea of the band, its definitely incidental), and I'll admit, at first I was more interested in the visual aspect of the video, but when I watched it again I realized the song was really good and found out who the band was. By the end of the day I had probably listened to the CD about 20 times. It's like cocaine.
As far as their sound, I'm a bit apprehensive about dropping names for comparison because they're one of those bands that probably reminds each person of some completely different band in some way. So I'll let you decide that for yourselves. But I will say that I have always been extremely skeptical of bands led by female vocalists (I swear I'm not sexist, I just think its harder for girls to pull off the musical styles I most enjoy) and I didn't know exactly how I felt about this singer's voice the first time around, but she really grows on you. She's definitely one of the most dynamic female singers I know of. The rest of their sound I guess I would describe as sort of Post-Rock and for lack of a better term, "indie." I guess there is some slight folk influence but I wouldn't say they have a "folky" sound at all. The music is all about build ups that actually deliver. Two songs in particular get the most attention from me: "A Little Piece," and the title track, "Dark Storm." The others are pretty good too but not as profoundly effective in raising the hair on my arms and shaking the very depths of my soul.

This is a great band, with great sound. The lead singer has an amazing voice that varies on so many different levels. The only thing I was disappointed about with this CD, is there were only 5 songs. I wanted MORE. Love this group - you feel this music in your soul..... Will definitely order more of The Jezebls.
