Every fifty years, the most powerful ethereal and infernal beings convene on Earth to resolve conflicts with mediation by kopides--humans born to police relations between Heaven and Hell. They're meeting in Elise Kavanagh's territory this year, and she used to be the greatest kopis in the world. But she's not invited.

An old friend, Lucas McIntyre, asks her to attend the summit in his place. But when she arrives, she discovers that a human faction called The Union has taken charge of the summit, and they're not playing nice. Worse yet, someone has killed a prominent Union member, and now they're demanding blood.

Elise has to bring justice to the summit in DARK UNION, a 33,000-word (120 page) urban fantasy novella featuring a decrepit ghost town, angry men with guns, and even angrier angels.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Dark Union is a gritty urban fantasy novella that should be read after The Darkest Gate. This series shouldn't be read out of order. If you're new to the universe, please start with Death's Hand: smarturl.it/descentseries

Reading Order
  1. Death's Hand
  2. The Darkest Gate
  3. Dark Union

About the Author

Hi everyone! My name is Sara, and I write urban fantasy novels as SM Reine. I collect swords, cat hair, and typewriters (which I do use for writing!). It's a good day when those three things have nothing to do with each other.

If you would like to know the instant my next book is available, you should enlist in my Army of Evil! I send out free books a couple times a year and we have a WICKED cool secret handshake, but you'll have to sign up to learn it. ;) Check it out -- eepurl.com/eWERY

A few fun facts about me:
- The more legs something has, the more terrifying it is to me. Centipedes are my biggest fear. Ladybugs are pushing it. Snakes have the ideal number of legs at zero.
- I prefer to eat my pizza with a fork. DEAL WITH IT.
- I just can't get into the Eleventh Doctor. Tenth Doctor for life! (David Tennant is my TV boyfriend.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good but short October 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Elise, a Kopis (demon fighter), after her last fight in which one of her best friends, if she has any, was killed and she killed the demon who controlled the demons and dimension gates just wants to rest and have nothing to do with angels, demons, her ex-partner or Anthony, her best friends cousin who thinks he is her boyfriend. McIntyre, another kopis and someone she considers a friend has asked her to come see him. It seems The Union, a group of Kopis' from Europe who have joined together and are looking to bring the US area under their control, has called a summit and called McIntrye to joined them to mediate a summit between angels and demons regarding the breech of the gates in Reno. A Breech Elise caused. He ask her to go as him since his wife is about to have a baby. When she and Anthony arrive there, they are grabbed and about to be charged with murder of a union operative and things go downhill from there.

Ms Reine has again written a good although short story about Elise, who just wants to forget that she was once known as "The Greatest Kopis" and is also known by angels and demons as "God-killer." She keeps the reader wondering how Elise has managed, if she has, to remain sane with everything that has happened to her. She keeps the reader entertained as she does so. A word of advise, the books should be read in order to fully understand the situation but can be read as standalone's if desired.

More of young adult series but very enjoyable. Characters are creative & a plot that isn't predicable. I would recommend this series to people who are looking for something different to normal sci fi/ fantasy books

4.0 out of 5 stars An engaging short story August 28, 2012
By Nereid
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Being the Godslayer has its ups and downs and Elise has been flying under the radar since the the Night Hag was slain. Conned into doing a friend a favour, Elise ends up in the middle of a murder investigation and Lucas McIntyre her old friend is their number one suspect. Mediating between angels and demons is nothing new for her to deal with but life always seems to get complicated. Attending the summit is causing more problems than anticipated and her boyfriend Anthony is still dealing with his issues. Can Elise find out the truth and when she does will she make the right choice?

4.0 out of 5 stars New wrinkle added to tbe series
The story is short and a little disjointed - perhaps due to one too many twists, but it is enjoyable. It also introduces some new antagonists for future stories. Read more

A few fun facts about me:
- The #1 song on the day I was born was "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley, which means my life is a Rickroll.
- I have three black cats and one black dog, but it's not an obsession, I swear.
- I am a full time writer these days, which means I will never wear a pair of heels to the office again. Viva la sweatpants!
