This beautiful song was featured on So You Think You Can Dance during the 2008 season. I'm so thrilled it's now available as an mp3 single!

Dark Waltz is composed and written by Frank Musker, Matteo Saggese, and Umberto Morasca. The melody is moody and darkly beautiful, and the lyrics poetic and mystic, with imagery of the occult. New Zealand soprano Hayley Westernra puts forth a beautiful and haunting rendition of the song. The violin plays between the vocal and becomes a second voice. It is a delight to listen to the interplay of Hayley's vocal and the violin. The meaning of the lyrics is open to interpretation. Some suggest that it embraces a vampiric theme, due to the references to "time forever", "looking glass", "unreachable heaven", and "dancing under the moon". The Swedish soprano Viktoria Tocca made a music video of Dark Waltz based on this theme.

I love this song. Its so beautiful and haunting. Her voice is so pure and clear. Just lovley. I also love her other song Quanta, Qualia. Her voice makes music trance-like.

Usually, songs translated from the Italian are complete mush. Saccharine. This works, and works very well. Sung with feeling, yet, it doesn't tip over into silly, frivolous mush.

She is very talented.
