Not much better than the first,

More than a little flat like Warrior Girl, the prequel to Dark Warriors, and the story arc left something to be desired. While some girls may get into the story a little, most boys will not. But if you're looking for a good fantasy read I would recommend The King's Blade. The characters are more developed and the battle scenes are much more entertaining.
