This is a must have item for any Sega CD game player or collector, easily worth the price of the most modern games. Stands the test of time!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the greatest overlooked games ever. turn based strategy at its best!, August 15, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

i can not say enough good things about this game. in recent years ive come to sell off almost all of my old games but i couldnt bring myself to part with this one.

ok lets get started on the pros of the game. there are 4 different main characters you can choose to be at the beginning. the different leaders not only have different abilities but each leader has its own story, its own ending and its own choice of available troops and hidden characters. also keep in mind that unlike most strategy games of its time, (like the shining force games) you could deploy up to 40 units on a map. that is good by todays standards and incredible back when this game was made.

now for the cons. the graphics. the graphics werent very good when the game was released and they look even worse now. but, if youre playing strategy games for the graphics you have very few games to pick from. the loading times for the combat animations are also very slow. when you take into account that graphics arent all that great anyway i suggest turning off the animations altogether. lastly, and this may be a deal breaker for some, the AI is bad. really bad. the enemy leader basically sends out his troops one at a time for you to easily dispatch them at your leisure. the only "difficulty' comes in tackling the leader himself, as he tends to surround himself with troops and wait for you.

in summary id like to say that this is one gem of a game that is surprisingly addictive. if you look past the dated graphics and crappy Ai you will find yourself playing one of the most fun and rewarding strategy games of all time. if you have access to a sega cd, give this game a try. you wont be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars a classic of old war games, July 24, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dark Wizard (Video Game)
when i think back one game sticks out in my mind when i think of sega cd and that is Dark Wizard. sega cd did not have many great games worth a grain of salt i can only say i enjoyed 3 games out of the 15 i own and the 3 are sonic, terminator, and dark wizard.

this is one of the first multy story games with multy endings as well you can pick between 4 leaders. Armon the prince, Robin the knight, Krystal the sorceress, and Amon the vampire (the colest one) and each of them has 2 endings.

the graphics were not the best of its time, but you have to remember graphics were eather super great with no movies or voices, or crappy with long story line and movies with voices. well so as you can guess it is a long game with movies that have voices.

once you play this game you will wish they would remake it for modern game systems because it is one of the best classic ever from sega cd times and is worth playing

This game was the game to play for sega cd. The graphics weren't that great but the game play was the best for it's time. The many hours of gameplay that this game recieved are countless, I played this game 100's of times and beat it about as many. This is one game that they need to update and make for one of the modern consoles.
