Excellent!, December 26, 2005
This review is from: Darkblade: Reign of Blood (Paperback)
Malus Darkblade is a dark elf warrior, ruthless and untrustworthy. Yet one battle led him to the treasure that would change his life forever, and NOT for the better. Malus Darkblade is cursed by a bestial abomination, the daemon named Tz'arkan. Malus has one year, four seasons, in which to seek out and bring back five unholy relics. If he does not, he will die. If he succeeds, the daemon will lift the curse. What Malus does not realize is that even should he succeed and the daemon keep his promise to lift the curse, things will never be the same again.
***** I had no idea that this Warhammer novel was actually all the Darkblade comics published thus far, collected into one convenient novel. I am so happy to have gotten this book! It is full of battles, gore, sorcerery, mayhem, and all the wonderful things Warhammer readers enjoy to the fullest! And remember, Malus Darkblade is a "dark elf warrior". No running off to save damsels in distress for him! Within these covers readers will find four complete books. Don't ask how many comics are within each book. I did not count. I was too busy enjoying the high rush of excitement that comes from Darkblade's adventures. The script is by Dan Abnett. The lettering and art is by Kev Hopgood. The cover is by Clint Langley. Very highly recommended reading! *****

I haven't read it yet, but need help on this subject PLEASE!, July 25, 2009
This review is from: Darkblade: Reign of Blood (Paperback)
Sorry, I didn't know what else to write as a title for my question.
But I gave five stars for Malus Darkblade and all of his first books and for Malus himself; he's a fascinating character and I love the stories.
My question is: I am looking for the other books, comics, etc. on Malus Darkblade. I was told that I need to read: Born of Blood, World of Blood, Throne of Blood and Reign of Blood, and that these were all comic books.
So I read the review for Reign of Blood and am confused. The writer says that it's an omnibus, but does anyone know if Reign of Blood contains Born of Blood, World of Blood and Throne of Blood?
Is Reign of Blood an omnibus of Born of Blood, World of Blood, Throne of Blood and Reign of Blood?
Also, if you know of any other books on Malus, would you please respond? I'd love to read all about him.
I'm fairly new to dark fantasy (Malus is my first experience), and while I love Malus, I had no idea that it would be so expensive to get my hands on the books I haven't read about him! Also, if these are comic books like I remember comic books, I'm shocked at the prices! I'm guessing they are collector items.
Can anyone out there help me, please?
I'd appreciate it very much!

A must-have for collectors. Brings the story of Malus Darkblade to life like nothing else., April 23, 2008
This review is from: Darkblade: Reign of Blood (Paperback)
One of Dan Abnett's most well-developed characters, Malus Darkblade is the perfect Byronic hero. You can't help but to love this evil, selfish, and malicious dark elf, who seems to fight against the world with no concern for anyone but himself (and possibly Spite, his mount). In this collection of all the Darkblade comics, you get to see the rise of Malus from the leader of a small strike team to the ruler of the fortress of Hag Greff. His battles with daemons, elves, and monsters of all sorts are brought to life in graphic detail within these pages. Dan Abnett's storytelling is in peak form here, displaying all the skills that have made his works so popular. Kev Hopgood's art is truly magnificent, bringing the story of Darkblade like never before.
This is one that shouldn't be missed by any fan of Warhammer, Abnett, or dark elves in general. A fine collector's item this is sure to please. Highly recommended.
