Editorial Reviews

4 star review from Lee Ashford for Readers Favorite and Goodreads:

"Each of these stories is entirely unique within this book. By "unique, I guess I mean some are bizzare, some are weird, some a bit creepy, one on the sentimental side, and so on...Nevertheless, each one of these stories is entertaining...The selection of tales showcases a wide range of talent. If "Darker Side Endings" is any indication of Kelvin's writing ability, he should have several good stories waiting their turn!" ****

5 star review from Mamta Madhavan for Readers Favorite:

"Darker Side Endings by Kelvin Kettle is a set of 8 horror stories. All the 8 stories are unique with a common thread of horror, intrigue, mystery and suspense running through them. Some stories are creepy, some bizzare, some weird and some scary to make it an interesting collection for the reader. All the stories leave the readers hooked to the book. There is a sense of urgency and fear in all the stories that make them fast paced." *****

4 star review from Bookingly Yours:

"The book is a compilation of eight short stories. Loved them especially SPIKES and DATE MISTAKE...If you are in to short stories with dark-ish endings...pick up this book!" ****

3.0 out of 5 stars This was okay. October 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This one was an okay read. To me, the stories seemed somewhat predictable, and one of the stories seemed very much like kind of dark kid's story. But I would probably try something else by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Creepy Tales!!! September 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author of this short story compilation, Mr. Kelvin Kettle, asked me personally for an honest review. I had purchased this on Amazon a short time ago and had planned to read it anyway, so I thought why not the present...

These stories are wonderful. Mr. Kettle put some great detail to his characters and some (especially The Black Egg & Date Mistake) actually gave me chills. All of the stories are easy to follow and draw the reader in completely.

As an avid reader of horror stories, short or novel length, I truly enjoyed Mr. Kettles works. A recommended read for an audience 16 and older.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eight amazing stories! September 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed these eight stories! Horror stories are a favorite of mine and these stories really entertained me.

I gave this book four stars, instead of five, because none of them really scared me. But don't mind me. It just takes a lot to scare me. Despite that, some of the stories are creepy, but in a good way, if that makes sense.

The visualization in these stories are amazing! Every story painted a clear picture in the readers mind and that, I believe, is a great quality to have in a horror story. You need to make your readers feel what the characters are going through-the pain, the desperation, and the author also needs to help the reader visualize what the characters are going through. I think Kelvin, the author, achieved that perfectly.

My favorite stories in this book are: Shanglin Forest, Pretty Lady, and The Devils Altar. Loved these stories!

I recommend this book to anyone interested in horror stories, or a good book. And since there's eight stories, it's worth it!!

Darker Side Endings is just that . . . .a collection of 8 horror stories that have dark endings. Each story has its on creep factor and the endings are just mind blowing. Story 1 starts out with a beautiful girl that loves to dress up in leather, who and what she becomes is a story all on its own. . . . . The twist and turns that Kettle takes you on is better than any fun house ride! Each story is well written and you see it so clearly in your mind while reading. This is a great read for a cold, spooky Halloween night!!

My favorite of the 8 short stories by far was; The Student. Carl Stone is a English Language teacher at a Providence School. He is intrigued by the essence of youth from the younger girls. When 16 yr old, Paula takes an interest into Carl he is all for it . . . . but, what he doesn't know is she is aware of his dark side. . . . . his past will come back to haunt him.

5 horrific Stars

Wende :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and colourful November 10, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm never sure about collections of short stories. I've had some bad experiences.. But not this time! "Darker Side Endings" by Kelvin Kettle is a collection of amazing stories... There is something in it for everyone. Eight short horror/suspense stories that are gripping and colourful. Kevin does a great job of painting the picture with his choice of words. While reading, I could hear each of the character's voices and picture the scene very clearly. Well worth reading for the short story enthusiast.

I picked the book initially because of the title and the cover. A couple of the stories were boring, but overall I enjoyed them

Hello! I live in Mapleville, Rhode Island with my wife and cat. Mapleville is a quiet little town.
I have been writing short stories for many years and I love to entertain my readers. I always try to think of stories to write that will capture the interest of my readers right away and not want to put it down.
I tend to have a dark side when it comes to story telling. It is just as much fun for me to write a story as it is for my readers to read it. I never know what dark and twisted turns I am going to take.
If you like a variety, then I think you will enjoy my collection. Won't you join me?
