Got Anger?,
By Gunther Haagendazs (Up High in the Trees) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Darker Side of Nonsense (Audio CD)
I found out about Dry Kill Logic through a Bonus CD that came with Rob Zombie's the Sinister Urge titled Calling all Maniacs. The song featured on it was Rot. That song alone convinced me to buy their album. Pleasantly I was not disappointed. Cliff's vocals are great. Some people compare Cliff to Corey from Slipknot, because he can scream (most of the songs) and sing (Goodnight). This is one of the CD's that perfectly expresses my anger. DKL are basically one of the bands that are pissed off about how many stupid people there are in the world. (I have met a lot of them) I wouldn't classify DKL as nu metal. There isn't any rap influence and they aren't about putting singles on the radio.
The bands name itself strikes curiosity. Originally they were Hinge. They released a 3 song EP called Cause Moshin' is Good fun and a 9 song record called Elemental Evil. Those 2 records have been out of print for a long time and most likely they will not be re-released because they had a different guitarist on those records as well as other reasons. From the opening of Nightmare, you can tell that you are in for a ride. The song I mentioned before; Rot is one of those songs that just keeps getting heavier and heavier (the last 40 seconds is the best part). The CD closes with one of my favorite acoustic songs, Goodnight. After that we are treated to the hidden track known as SAB, It sounds like something that they were just goofing around in the studio with. Cliff sounds pissed on the entire record with the exception of Goodnight and Track 13. Scott's Guitar is relatively simple, so don't expect solos but it still sounds really good. The Bassist Dave, actually scratch built his Bass, so that shows he knows his stuff and the Drummer Phil is very good at what he does. A few of the reviews that gave a low rating said that he was the most talented of the group. If you're pissed off at the world and you need some to blow some steam, pick up a copy of the Darker Side of Nonsense today.

F#@KING AWESOME!!,

A lot of my friends who are so called Metal fans have not even heard of this band or album because they are so used to what the mainstream feeds them as "Metal". But I have not heard anything out there as brutal, powerful and goddamn intelligent as this album in the Metal mainstream for a long time.It has reaffirmed my faith that some muso's out there still choose to have their balls securely attached. Cheers on a great album guys!

Dry Kill Logic, a great band, yes, a new band no, they have been around for a while just not under the name "dry Kill Logic". They've had previous releases under "Hinge". But Im not here to talk about that. This Album is unbelievable, from start to finish it just pumps out the energy we all need from a debut album. Rot is one of the best songs ive heard in a long time, it just explodes from the speakers and doesn't let up until its finish. The album on a whole is just amazing, can't wait until the new album to be released.

NY Metal Lives!!!,

This review is from: Darker Side of Nonsense (Audio CD)
These guys know their stuff. Hailing from Westchester County, NY, DKL have been working hard to get where they are. Now comes their first major-label release, "The Darker Side of Nonsense". This album is full of aggression, intensity, and an overall feeling of dislike for most things in the world. DKL have produced their own sound in the new metal world that emcompasses a lot of influences from old to new heavy music. Scott Thompson's guitar hardly takes a rest before pounding you with intense riffs. Dave Kowatch's bass slinks around in the backround and ever so carefully jumps out at you to produce the king of head-banging bass-lines that mix so well with Phil's drums. And then there is Cliff. Throw a little Cliff into the picture, and you might have a tendancy to maim every living creature that you come into existence with. If you like the heavy music (and well you should), Then Dry Kill Logic will spend a lot of time in your CD player. Awsome songs include: ROT, NIGHTMARE, PAIN, NOTHING, AND ASSFAULT. And yes, the rest of the album is great too. There is even a ballad-sort of song as the last track, but I wouldn't call it a ballad exactly. Good luck

This Album is bad ...!!,
By Burnt Out (Ventura, CA USA) - See all my reviews

I never write reviews, but I just had to give these guys credit. This is the kind of music you'll be listening to on the freeway when you glance down at the speedometer and find that you're going 30mph over the speed limit. I listen to this every day on the way to work, it's better than Star Buck's. Yes they do sound kind of like Slipknot, but that's okay I happen to like Slipknot. My favorite track is "rot", I have never heard anything like it before, you gotta hear it, it's awesome!

I bought this CD on the 21st, and havent put it down since. The CD is a mixture of Korn and Sepultura, with some Slipknot in it. I cant quite put an exact sound on the singer. He has screams that sound like forced growls, and its awesome. I like the guitars because they go really really well with the bass. the riffs are lots of notes in a heavy fast segment. Instead of guitar riffs like Taproot and Spineshank (although i like both). My favorite songs are Nightmare, Pain, Assfault.

This is an extremly great cd, they sound like slipknot kindof, but in my personal opinion they are better. Nightmare, Feel the break, Pain, Nothing, Assfault, Weight, A better man than me, ROT, Track 13, Give up, Give in, Lie down, The stength i call my own, Goodnight, and the hidden track are all great f***in songs, and the song 200 YEARS thats gonna be on there new alblum "The Dead And Dreaming" is even better than the songs on this alblum, this is a must buy and so is the new alblum when it comes out, its to bad they lost there guitarist Scott Thompson, but the new guitarist Jason Bozzi is just as good if not better, and they are a great band to see in concert.

Great Album,

This is probably the best album I've bought all year. DKL is a great metal band. They showed me something I was missing in metal, just raw energy. They showed me that they don't need the best equipment, or best producers, so on and so forth. They gave it their all and in my opinion, did great. ... The band could use a little more practice, but that comes with experience. The singers voice is amazing. His yell is interesting and very addictive, but what floored me was hearing him actually sing. He has a beautiful voice that shows everyone that just cuz we like to scream doesn't mean we don't have talent. I'd recommend this album to anyone who likes system, but wants more raw power.
