Guitar Rock Lives On With Livesay,
By Kevin Dean "Trey" (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Darkest Hour (Audio CD)
This CD has to be one of the best guitar oriented CDs to come down the pike in a long while. Gregg Livesay and band deliver a hard driving combination of songs that all guitar fanatics would have to be crazy not to love. The bands version of Ronnie Montrose' Voyager is on the money and delivers quite a punch. The solos that Mr.Livesay lays down are crisp and clean with the speed of a soul trieing to escape the fires of hell. This CD is a MUST.

These Guys Rock!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Darkest Hour (Audio CD)
I saw this band in Poughkeepsie, NY opening for Warrant. They are by no means a local act.The Guitars were incredible like Yngwie. The Vocals were sharp and sweet.I mean this guy can actually sing. The Keyboards reminded me of Dream Theater. The Drummer was right on time, and the Bassist was like a ball of fire like I haven't seen for years. Watching him on stage at times I thought of Steve Harris. These guys look like a Rock Band too. They truthfully were there to entertain. In my opinion they definately accomplished that. This is a must for anyone's collection. I also Checked out their website and it seems that these guys have been playing out with alot of national acts in the past few years. If MTV still played rock these guys would be there.

WOW! This is definitely PROG worthy!,

In the past year or so I've gotten into a genre of music called Progressive Rock. I also introduced a friend of mine to this genre, and when he heard this CD he told me it was like Prog and "Dream Theater" (an AWESOME rock group). When he told me this, I was a little skeptical, but it certainly lived up to my friend's comment! It's a great CD and I LOVE it! I only found one downfall: sometimes the music covers the vocals, and a little distortion can be heard, but for the most part, the recording is great, and the music ROCKS! "Livesay" should definitely become known around the world, especially by Prog fans. Great CD!

Sorry it took me so long to write this review. I've had this cd for way over a year now, and it's in my cd player that hold's 300 cd's. When a tune comes on from livesay (I also have their first cd, called Livesay)someone is always compeled to crank it up! With that said, Livesay sounds like a group of men who's history in Rock and Roll comes through in very diverse directions. Like a team of pro's who interact in a way to bring out the best in each other. Gregg P. Livesay (Guitar)could most likely put out an all shred cd. The way he blends in with the group concept is what projects this great cd into what for me will be a classic cd, along with Deep Purple's In Rock. Or Malmsteen's Rising Force day's. What I can't understand is, why is this band not a world known band? You can call it Neoclassic, Metal, Shred or what ever? For me this is a Classic example of what a band should sound like. They are being themselves, and it show's. When's the next one coming out?? The world await's the answer!!...

I was a bit skeptical when my cousin's Fiance told me about this Band, but she has such Great taste and I'm already a Big Malmsteen/Dream theater fan plus it already recieved great reviews here so I went ahead and ordered it. The first thing I noticed when I recieved the CD was the Killer Cover, so I thought alright great cover art there has to be something worth while inside then,MAN I'm glad she turned me on to Livesay these guys know how to Rock,I don't think I need to comment on how these guys sound, especially if you've read the below Reviews already, On The Money... I'd Recommend Livesay to anyone who Rocks out to REAL METAL, I look forward to whatever they have planned for the future. To the Band...Keep Rockin and I'll keep buying, you've sold me already so keep it Real and keep it Live.

Livesay KICKS ASS!,

Darkest Hour is must for any true Metal fan, no collection can be complete without it, Livesay knows how to ROCK! They deliver like no band has in a Long time and what they deliver is pure METAL! The guitars are amazing, I haven't heard anything as Fast,Precise and just Damn rock'n since Malmsteen and the Bassist Alan, he could replace Maiden's Harris anyday and you wouldn't notice(he's that good not to mention the resemblance)Anthony's vocal's are Amazing and the keyboards very Reminiscent of Dream Theater Tony knows his stuff, the Drums are perfect though this album features their old drummer, I still give him my respect, I'd also like to add that their current Drummer(Tim my favorite drummer)is a force to be reckoned with, if you are in the NY area and can you MUST catch their show, you won't regret it. I only regret that I won't be in the Poughkeepsie area for their Feb. 16, 2002 show at "The Chance"
