amazing,

Darkest Hour is one of the most amazing bands out there. If you want just straight thrash influenced hardcore that doesn't let up until you pause the cd, go buy anything from Darkest Hour. Unlike most bands who experiment with pretty melodies and cathy tunes and hooks, Darkest Hour is just trying to make heavy, mosh worthy music and they have done so successfully with every release. Which makes them kind of a crutch of dependence in a genre of music full of bands "experimenting". You know what the next Darkest Hour album is going to sound like already, and that's the amazing part because that's how it should be, I expect full on screaming and instruments fast enough that they sand the skin off your face. Much like how you expect every Cannibal Corpse album to be, no singing and as fast and heavy as they can make music go. This band can do no wrong, even though the production on this album isn't the greatest, the talent is still there and so are the makings of a godlike band. "Every song sounds the same! B*tch B*tch Whine!" Then go buy some emo and stare at your shoes! Fans of this band have certain expectations and D.H. never lets you down, you know every album is going to be something you can get in a fight with and will make your bad mood even worse. If only there were more bands this good...then I guess we wouldn't appeciate this band so much. Nevermind.

I was never a fan of this band in the early days but recently someone promised me I'd love their new stuff. So I gave it a try. And... well they have improved a million times since their earlier stuff from a few years back. This new stuff is some of the most intense metal I've heard. It's defintely a step above these other hardcore bands playing their chunky generic stuff. This music comes out fast and heavy and when it's all over, you're sitting there wishing there were more than 8 songs.

Quite possibly Darkest Hour's finest,

This, Darkest Hour's first release is a surprisingly super good listen, with all of Darkest Hour's finest qualities, speed, amazing solos, mellow acoustic moments, and great vocals. There is a little bit more breakdowns on this CD then Darkest Hour has on any of their others, and they fit really well into these songs. What amazes me most is how young Darkest Hour was when they made this and how good it is. I'd say that this and Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation are tied for Darkest Hour's best.

Look Out Below!,

This record will crush you like a piano dropped from the 8th story window. You've never heard anything this unrelentingly heavy. If you're a fan of Hatebreed, Damnation A.D., or Buried Alive, you'll love Darkest Hour. This album goes straight for the jugular from the first track, and only lets up momentarily on the acoustic instrumental "Broken Wings". From then on, the record resumes it's jackhammer-like intensity on the brutal tracks "This Side of the Nightmare" and the furious "This Curse". The final track is a beautiful organ/piano instrumental, showcasing the full range of this incredible bands' talents.
