5.0 out of 5 stars As Fun As The First
First of all this is no Lord of The Rings, but that does'nt mean you wont enjoy it. The key difference is this is a TV series style not a made for the big screen MOVIE. If you enjoy medieval fantasy movies and shows you will most likely enjoy this. The first one was fun to watch and so is this. Its safe for the whole family to watch in my opinion.

So grab some ye olde...

This movie is very cheesy. But if you don't set your expectations too high, it can also be a fun little bit o' entertainment if you're into medieval times. This movie is very cheesy. But if you don't set your expectations too high, it can also be a fun little bit o' entertainment if you're into medieval times. The production value is actually quite good, with the costumes and castles and such (I mostly rented this movie so that me and wife could more readily imagine the world of George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice & Fire" series.)
The only character that is interesting and fun is the trusty comic-relief sidekick, Odo. If it wasn't for him, the movie would be very bad indeed. Ivanhoe and Rebecca elicit no empathy whatsoever.
The special effects are pretty low-grade, but actually not too terrible. After watching this movie, you realize just how mind-bendingly awesome "The Lord of the Rings" movie is. LotR could easily have been as bad as Darkest Knight 2.
A bad movie if you are expecting a good movie, but light-hearted and fun if you know what you're in for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a British movie, October 28, 2008

This was never meant to be a serious movie full of blood, guts and gore. It's a light-hearted look at a story to delight children and adults alike. So there's no dragons- so what. A lot of movie posters and DVD covers have images not seen in the film. At least you don't have to send children out of the room or cover their ears for this movie- and that's saying a LOT in today's world. If you're not sure about owning this or any other movie, rent it first (check various sites online to see if it can be viewed for free first) and then make your decision. I have the set- all three movies- and my friends and I sit back and enjoy the laughs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick... maybe., July 26, 2004
This review is from: Darkest Knight 2 (DVD)
I bought this on a whim, usually finding midieval dramas at least interesting. However, the acting quality, the cinematagraphy, and the plot soon reminded me of a cheesy 60s porno, but without the porn. There was never any character or plot development and you'll spend most of the time wondering what is going on. Basically, there is the evil prince john and the hero and a slew of other people, but you've got no idea what motivates the hero or prince john or anyone else for that matter. I've seen original highschool level productions with higher quality acting, plot, etc. than this movie. I cannot stress enough not to buy this. Please stop these people from acting and making more movies.
