Great (short!) addition to the series,

Got this when I got a Kindle for my birthday, I really enjoy this series and this short book is a good addition, adds more dimensions to the fight between the Lords of the Underworld and the Titan gods, and hopefully we will see these characters again, Ms. Showalter certainly hints that we will. Bottom line, if you are following this series it is worth the couple of bucks, otherwise it probably not a good choice until you read some of the full length stories.

Gena Showalter's ebooks rocks just as well as her novels,

With each book and e-book Ms. Showalter writes her writing is constantly improving as well as her creativity. I look more forward to her mini ebooks as well as her novels and this book is no different. The Greek Goddess of Strenght Nike (heroine) and the Lord Titan (Atlas) are two well developed characters that develop an intense hate-love relationship. This relationship quickly reverses itself to a love-hate relationship when the tables are turned and Atlas imprisons Nike to get his hard sought revenge after being imprison by her for centuries. However once revenge has been achieved it does not taste as sweet as he would have like. Atlas seeks for ways to make Nike prison life more miserable yet with each way he tries to torture her he is further torture by his growing feelings of love. This ebook is fanstastic and I thouroughly look forward to the next book of Gena Showalter.

I love the Lord's of the Underworld series and this was a neat short story opening to the series. I've re-read it three times and I like it better each time.

This is a nice side story that fits into the "Lords of the Underworld" series.
You don't need to worry about what order you read this one in really, it doesn't overlap much with the plot lines so far. Reads like a long short story, appropriately enough. Light, fun and passionate. Not a huge amount of tension or mystery, but a very sweet romance. Makes a nice addition to the series on the whole.

Short but sweet,

This book was okay for a short story. I guess if I had to have waited months in between each book I would have liked it better. But since I am reading them straight through it seemed like an unnecessary break from the action. I did like how it was to the point with very little resistance to falling in love by the characters. No time for that. I would ultimately recommend it as a free ebook or if you borrowed it from the library.

Disappointing: short and no character development,

For some reason I have the impression that Geena has changed editors. I have read many of her books, but this one is not remotely like the ones I used to like. The way she writes is sloppy with unusual indifferent lines. The story is short and is hardly a story at all. I must agree with another reviewer who 'finds herself frustrated with the lack of an imaginative story line behind all the adult scenes and foreplay.'
I must give it 'only' a two star because the 5star reviews are deceptive for someone searching for a good book. I know Geena can do a lot better than this.

I can see Gena's writing improving with her books, but Ive read several and find myself frustrated with the lack of an imaginative story line behind all the adult scenes and foreplay.
She writes what she feels shes good at, but for me I dont think I can get into her series the way other people can. Theres a decided lack of character development. Theres not a strong story line. Theres the hero and heroine, theres the angst that draws them together while pushing them part. Theres the climax of the story that leads you to believe that for now all is well. As for the rest it goes from mild story scene to tons of adult content and not much else. It seems like the mild story scenes get you from one adult scene to the next. If you are all about paranormal Adult romance this is for you. If you want a story that is more story and shows the complexity of the characters its not for you. Sorry Gena. This is not my cup of tea. |
