5.0 out of 5 stars gypsy madness, July 13, 2005

accordion squeeze box with ivory piano keys. giant blazing suns (and the heat of it all!) beating through your skull to your brain to your mind. in time with gypsy rhythms. forced bouts of dancing provoked by tracks two and wicky pocky. visual disturbances. watch out. do not operate heavy machinery while listening to jeremy barnes bust out melodies on the hammond b-3, piano, accordion or turkish cumbus. eery surreal haunted house for slavoj. brilliant. beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars , October 4, 2006

This review is from: Darkness At Noon (Audio CD)
The Moon Under the Water has one of the most disorienting moments in music that I can recall, a brilliant abrupt change from gypsy sound to mariachi and then back that fits so perfectly within the context of the piece. It is just such a shocking shift, and so satisfying to hear the strings go to trumpets and build together.

Really intense, cinematic album. Your friends might think you are crazy though. It's worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, March 15, 2006
This review is from: Darkness At Noon (Audio CD)
I bought this album from Amazon because I heard it was an Elephant 6 Project. Then I read more about it and they said it was like Gypsy-Oompa music so I had to try it out.

When I got it, I didn't listen to it for a few days. When I finally listened to it I realized it wasn't as great as I expected it to be, but still not bad at all.

I give it 3 stars because it's very different but yet not too different. Meaning it was as groundbreaking as I thought it would be.
