This is definitely a complicated story. The author does a great job of pulling everything together and showing how all the varied subplots tie together in the end. Getting there can be difficult reading because as you follow one set of characters the story line changes and you are thrown into a completely different setting with different characters. There are three story lines going through out the book and it can get confusing at points, but hang in there because eventually it will make sense. Honestly, I wasn't sure which couple the book was featuring as the main characters, then one of the sets at the end leaves you hanging because they are probably featured in the next book. The supposed main characters in this book actually have a longer story for them is you go back a book in the series which I think is called Levet - Guardians of Eternity (I missed this one). Anyway, the books tie together and you'll be lost of half of Santioga & Nefri's story if you don't read the one before. At some points, I found myself reading the dialog just to get to the relevant parts.

Rather than being out celebrating the defeat of the Dark Lord, Santiago can't stop thinking about the beautiful vampire who worked her way under his skin and then retreated behind the Veil. She frustrates and excites him and when he's sent after the vampire who betrayed their own kind, Santiago will get his hands on Nefri and he has no intentions letting her go. Nefri has lived centuries with her vampire clan behind the Veil where emotions are muted. Here, she's overwhelmed by Santiago and the intense feelings he brings out in her. Her attempt at a swift getaway is foiled when the Oracles send her after Gaius, driving her into Santiago's wicked arms and forcing her to confront emotions she buried a long time ago.

Santiago and Nefri are two characters I could've easily forgotten after the last book but they manage to carve out a place of their own in this series. Both powerful and protective of their people, Santiago and Nefri have battled their way to their positions, Santiago as one of Viper's club managers and Nefri as a revered clan chief. Though Nefri tries her hardest to ignore it out of fear it'll somehow be used to control her, the spark of attraction is there from the start and as they hunt Gaius and the mysterious evil surrounding him, Santiago fans the flames and makes it impossible for Nefri to walk away.

Is there anything spectacular that makes either stand out in a genre with so many stellar characters? No, not really but I found qualities I enjoyed and think they held together a book with a tepid story. Powerful, loyal, and in need of a little TLC, Santiago and Nefri work well together because they're more alike than either will ever admit.

A great continuing saga of the Guardians of Eternity series giving us a peek at what to come with Role and Sally and gave us a delectable story with Santiago and Nefri. I loved the plot that follows the love torn Gaius and his boundless efforts to be reunited with the woman who has had his heart for an eternity, Dara--sold his soul to the Dark Lord and now he is possessed by an entity whose existence ties to the creation of all demons; including Vampires. Sent to stop this new "enemy" by the Oracles and Anasso, can Nefri and Santiago win this battle while fighting their love and passion for each other? A great story that had me salivating on every word!

It is a pleasure to get away from the word and enjoy these book series. You are just as enthralled from the end as the beginning!

"You know I will always be here for you. I will never fail you."

Alexandra Ivy has done it again. This was a great addition to the Guardians of Eternity Series. Full of fantastic characters, intense story lines, and smouldering love scenes, Darkness Avenged is one thrill ride after another. I couldn't wait to be transported back to this wonderful, bizarre world filled with temperamental vampires, a wide variety of evil demons, and one annoyingly cute gargoyle.

In Darkness Avenged you kind of get two stories in one. What a great deal, right? The story mainly focuses on the characters Santiago (the vampire, with the bad attitude) and Nefri (the clan chief of the Immortal Ones.) We also get a heavy introduction in to another fabulous couples story (a couple who will remain nameless at the moment). Don't worry this "nameless" couple will get you pumped up, and patiently awaiting the next book! *Smirks* See, I'm already extremely excited just thinking about the next book!

Just when they thought they avoided the end of the world, a new threat comes to light, a threat that brings the wayward, stubborn couple, Santiago and Nefri back together again. Santiago is all about finding out why the hell Nefri left him in the first place, but all Nefri wants is to get in and get out, back behind the Veil, where emotions aren't an issue. The chemistry is amazing between these two. The sexual tension is extremely palpable, and when these two finally got together, my heart was beating out of my chest. It was soooooo GOOD! I loved Nefri as the heroine in Darkness Avenged. She was a bad ass clan chief who can hold her own against any threat. Of course, Santiago was the perfect HERO in this one. Tough, sexy, stubborn, tender, protective, oh yeah, I could go on and on!
