Disillusioned
Following on the heels of Illusion, indie sensation and New York Times best-selling author J.S. Cooper brings us the second novel in the Swept Away series, a trilogy of dark and sexy romances about a woman marooned on an island with a man who may be her captor.

Book Description

Kayla made her choice and now she has to live with it. She stays with the Day Takers, hiding in the city, staking vampires. But fighting vampires as a human is difficult.

Sylas constantly pressures Kayla to choose the life of a Day Taker. But until Kayla knows what Monarch is planning, she can't make her choice. Plus there's Aiden. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t stop thinking about him.

As Kayla’s memories resurface, the pieces of her history unfold. She learns of Cell 7, a place that Kayla believes holds the answers to the creation of the virus. But getting to Cell 7 is a dangerous mission. And with Kayla's strength weakening, it's one mission she might not make it through alive.

4.0 out of 5 stars it just gets better December 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Darkness Breaks picks up just after Darkness Falls (Darkness Falls Series, Book 1) ends and is worth reading for Sylas alone. I adored him and am keeping my fingers crossed for his speedy return in book three (Darkness Fades). I found the juxtaposition of him and Aiden interesting. While one openly declares himself evil and the other tries ardently to do the right thing, you are still left wondering which on is really working for the forces of good in the world. Sometimes the 'right' thing isn't always the RIGHT thing to do. It's all yet to be seen though. I think I had as many questions at the end of the book as I did at the beginning.

I did start to think that maybe Kayla was a little too perfect. I realise, of course, that she was designed to be that way, but surely she needs a weakness somewhere. Her perfection started to strain the confines of credibility a little. I also started to wonder about the rest of the world. Kayla is on about saving it, but there is no indication beyond assumption that the virus has spread worldwide or that this is the last enclave of humanity. It's just a niggle, but it is there in the back of my mind.

I eagerly await the next book in the series. I enjoyed the characters and the hint of a romance that is so much more than a rushed lust-based affair. A worthy continuation of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for Darkness Fades December 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a sucker for a good story plot and I got sucked in to this series. Kayla has her work cut out for her if she is going to find that cure and get her memory back. The suspense is killing me. As soon as I can I'm gonna get or read the conclusion to this amazing read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very dark and twisted plot January 4, 2013
By sd_jess
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While I enjoyed the first book and enjoyed parts of this book a lot as well, the second book became so much more sick and twisted. At times I didn't really even want to read it. It fell under the horror category a lot more than I would have liked. I knew it was a dark plot but this really went extreme compared to other things she has written. Not my favorite or one I would want to read again. I'm still undecided if the last book will be worth buying or if its just going to be terribly unsettling as well. Very unique plot though and well written.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Read December 10, 2012
By Sasha
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I did like this book much better than the first one. The first book, i walked away with way too many questions and actually felt a little cheated. Don't get me wrong though, I walked away from this book with a heck of a lot of questions as well, but I think things start making more sense. You start to get a big picture kind of view. In the end, I would recommend this book. It has a lot of great action scenes. You can get very emotionally involved with the characters in the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another example of a story going nowhere! January 25, 2013
By SAM
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
To many flash backs, too many characters having flash backs, and no sense of where story is supposed to go or what characters are supposed to do. No connection between main characters and who is in love with whom? Can't figure it out. GET SOMEONE TO CORRECT MISTAKES AND TEXT. SPELL CHECK WAS NOT ENOUGH.
