5.0 out of 5 stars The Beginning of Trouble, January 10, 2004
A Kid's Review
Imagine your grandmother just passing away. Hard enough right? Well, for the Halliwell sisters, that was just the beginning of the trouble they have to face in the hit novel, Charmed- Kiss Of Darkness by Belinda Alexandra. These sisters, Prue, Piper, and Phoebe have just learned that they are witches with special powers, just like their ancestors. These 3 girls were the most powerful witches, destined to protecting the innocent people of the world and fighting the evil. It was hard to comprehend at first, but they slowly make it through. They saw a tarot booth and decided to get their tarot reading. That's when Prue finds out that she has the worst card in the deck, one the tarot reader has never pulled in a reading before. The reader said, trembling, " This card means darkness will surround you ".
The main characters are the three sisters, Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. Prue was the oldest sister, then Piper and Phoebe. As sisters, they were determined to stay together, as one, as the power of three.
In this novel, the author talks in the third narrative. She knows everything and pulls the story along. Her descriptions are very flowery, with so much creativity that you feel like your there experiencing it all. She also has a sophisticated vocabulary within the novel as well as using rhyming and alliterational techniques which helps the book tremendously.I like this book alot. I think that this book is perfectly written and it has alot of potential. The author gives very good details and also foreshadows occasionally, which makes you want to read on and on forever.
This book is geared more towards people who like fantasy and mystery books and witchcraft kind of books. Also, it is geared more towards teenagers because it is maturely written and younger children and adults probably wouldn't like the teenage sophistication that Constance M. Burge uses with writing these books. If you read this book, you should read the other Charmed titles and watch the hit series, Charmed!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Charmed Book I've Read So Far, August 8, 2001
By
At a New Years Eve party Prue gets the kiss of her life at midnight. After that she feels driven to kiss every guy she comes across, desperately trying to find the mysterious man who had kissed her with such passion. At first Phoebe and Piper aren't sure what to think about Prue's new lifestyle; even Prue doesn't understand what's happening to her, but for some odd reason she can't force herself to stop. It's like she needs to kiss men to keep her alive, but with every kiss she becomes weaker. It doesn't take Piper and Phoebe long to figure out that a warlock is behind Prue's strange behavior. But what kind of warlock would be obsessed with kissing? And why? Could it be someone they knew? Or was it someone they'd never met before? Prue is fading fast, proving that time is definitely not on their side. They have to save her before it's too late, but can they rescue her from the darkness that is threatening to surround her with only the Power of Two?

I absolutely loved this book! It's fast paced, has plenty of plot twists, and several interesting characters. While reading this book you'll find yourself trying to figure out who Prue's mysterious midnight phantom is. This Charmed book is definitely a keeper, and I can see myself reading it over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars What has gotten into Prue?, July 23, 2000
Ever since she recieved the most passionate kiss of her life from a stranger at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, Prue Halliwell has felt driven to kiss ever single man she meets.... but after each kiss, she has no idea why! Piper and Phoebe Halliwell are baffled. This isn't the sister they know and love. They're sure a warlock is to blame. But who's the warlock? Piper and Phoebe have to find out fast - each kiss has robbed Prue of some of her strength, and now she is hovering near death. But can Piper and Phoebe find and banish the warlock without the Power of Three? Read to find out! I highly reccomend this novel to fans of the Charmed series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charmed Kiss of Darkness, February 21, 2003
By
K.Darden (Cerritos, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Kiss of darkness is written by Brandon Alexander. This book is about the Charmed Ones, Prue, Piper, and Phoebe, and how they save one of their own from an evil warlock named Lascaris. This all started when a stranger kissed Prue on New Year's Eve. After that kiss Prue feels the need to kiss every guy she meets. At first, Piper and Phoebe think that it is just Prue letting lose. But when Prue weakens with every kiss they know that it is evil at work. Now Piper and Phoebe must save their sister using only the power of two.
I enjoyed this book because it is based on the hit T.V. series, Charmed, created by Constance M. Burge. The book closely follows what happens on each episode. So if you can't get enough of the show you can read the books. I happen to like the books better because they tell the story in more detial. For example in the book you read, "His blond hair fell across his forehead. She watched him comb it back with his fingers, a grin tugging up one corner of his mouth." This quote tells you somethings that you would not catch from watching the show.
Even though I really liked this book there are things that I disliked. As I read the book I found that parts of it seemed to be stretched out to long and be in too much detial. A complete contradiction to what I said in the previous paragraph. But as you can tell if you did not read any other books in the series you would not understand, ""Well, last year was kind of... intense, if you know what I mean.""
My favorite part of the book is when Phoebe and Piper are kneeling over Prue. They are repeating the incantation, ""I call on the Power of Three. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, we imprison Lascaris because we must. To spare the innocent, to protect the meek, we reduce your evil power to very weak. Into the prison you must go, never again to be our foe."" This is my favorite part because the spell failed and Prue is dying. Piper is confused at why the spell didn't work. ""Prue is too weak to complere the link. Without the full Power of Three, we have no hope of saving her."" At this point they are not sure what to do and if you want to know what they do you'll have to read the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, April 25, 2006
This book is definately a good book that I would recomend on a cold, rainy night. This time the book is moistly about Prue Halliwell but it's still good. On New Years Eve, Prue goes to a party where when the lights go out a mysterious man gives her the most passionate kiss of her life. Now, scince Prue feels that she needs to find the man that kissed her she goes around kissing every guy that she meets. But with every kiss that she gives, she grows more and more weaker and each guy she kisses gets terribly sick. Will Pheobe and Piper be able to save Prue even though they only have the power of two? Read this awesome book to find out.
