Darkness Creeping,
By
This review is from: Darkness Creeping: Twenty Twisted Tales (Mass Market Paperback)
Darkness Creeping is 20 short stories that will creep you out. "Security Blanket" is the story of a "special" quilt that turns into the worst type of security blanket. I may never look at quilts the same again. My favorite was probably the "River Tour". The story of a special guided trip down the River Styx. Have a fear of dentists? Ralphy Sherman's Root Canal is a story you can really sink your teeth into. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes short stories, the creepier the better. If you are a Neal Shusterman fan then I would definitely recommend this book. I gave it a 5 out of 5 rating.

Good Read, Not all Horror Stories,
This review is from: Darkness Creeping: Twenty Twisted Tales (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a very good collection of short stories, by a very good author. A lot of the stories in the book aren't really horror stories but it is still a great read.

This review is from: Darkness Creeping: Twenty Twisted Tales (Kindle Edition)
I am now 21 years old and a junior majoring in physics at a large university. However, to this day the story "Monkeys Tonight" creeps me out. I hadn't read this book since middle school and I didn't even remember the title. I had spent quite some time hunting this book down because it is, in my opinion, one of the scariest scary story books ever written.

These well-written stories are creepy enough to get the attention of a reluctant reader, but also have great elements for teaching- literary allusion, symbolism, irony, etc. I plan to use them in both my 8th grade honors and grade-level classes. They are so much better than the boring ones in the textbook.
